The tour will introduce incoming freshman and other new students from the <br />University of Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s College, Holy Cross College, and Indiana University- <br />South Bend to all aspects of the city of South Bend and will take place, Monday, August 23 <br />from 5:00pm to approximately 7:00pm. <br /> <br />The tour is designed to showcase the many facilities and attractions that make South Bend the <br />regional center for arts, culture, sports, entertainment, dining, and commerce, along with the <br />educational opportunities that South Bend has to offer while providing students with a glimpse <br />into the city’s historical past. The event has grown substantially each year, and this year, the <br />students will view the new Civil Rights Heritage Center as well as Innovation and Ignition <br />Parks, allowing students to be eye-witnesses to the city’s newest growth and development. <br /> <br />TRANSPO will again provide the buses for the 300 students expected to attend, while the tours <br />will be led by volunteer “local experts”, residents in the community of South Bend who will not <br />only point out the many sights on the route but also share personal stories from living and <br />working in the city. These buses will depart from designated locations at each of the four <br />colleges and universities and travel throughout the downtown area and surrounding <br />neighborhoods to highlight the diversity abundant in our community.
