Magliozzi <br />Executive Director Assistant Director <br />Phone 574 235-9571 www.stjosephcountyindiana.com Fax 574 235-9813 <br />April 19, 2006 <br />The Honorable Council of the City of South Bend <br />4th Floor, County-City Building <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />RE: A proposed ordinance and site development plan of the City of South Bend to zone from "SF2" Single & <br />Two Family and "GB" General Business to "LI" Light Industrial, property located at a vacant, triangular <br />shaped parcel bounded on the east by Meade Street, on the north by Lawton Street and the southwest side by <br />Washington Street; four vacant lots lying north and adjacent to Lawton Street from Meade Street West 160 <br />feet to the first north/south alley west of Meade Street; eight vacant lot from Kenwood Avenue north to <br />Bertrand Street being 160 feet in width, east and west, from Meade Street west to the first north/south alley <br />west of Meade Street, City of South Bend - APC# 2371-06 <br />Dear Council Members: <br />I hereby Certify that the above referenced ordinance of City of South Bend was legally advertised on Thursday, <br />Apri16, 2006 and that the Area Plan Commission at its public hearing on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 took the <br />following action: <br />Upon a motion by John DeLee, being seconded by Roland Kelly and unanimously carried, the <br />proposed ordinance and site development plan of the City of South Bend to zone from "SF2" Single & <br />Two Family and "GB" General Business to "LI" Light Industrial, property located at a vacant, <br />triangular shaped parcel bounded on the east by Meade Street, on the north by Lawton Street and the <br />southwest side by Washington Street; four vacant lots lying north and adjacent to Lawton Street from <br />Meade Street West 160 feet to the first north/south alley west of Meade Street; eight vacant lot from <br />Kenwood Avenue north to Bertrand Street being 160 feet in width, east and west, from Meade Street <br />west to the first north south alley west of Meade Street, City of South Bend is sent to the Common <br />Council with a favorable recommendation. The rezoning is for the expansion of the Bosch facility. It <br />is compatible with the adjacent industrial land use. It is consistent with the Comprehensive Plan <br />economic development policy. Lastly, landscaping will help buffer the surrounding neighborhood. <br />PLEASE NOTE that the Ordinance has been amended by the petitioner and is different than that used for the <br />Common Council's first reading. The amended Ordinance was legally advertised and heard by the Area Plan <br />Commission. <br />The deliberations of the Area Plan Commission and points considered in arriving at the above decision are shown in <br />the minutes of the public hearing, and will be forwazded to you at a later date to be made a part of this report. <br />Sincerely, <br />hn W.
