~` -;~ ! <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 22, 2005 <br />During the month of May the Fire Department responded to structure fire with property damage of <br />buildings and contents entered at: <br />May 2005 - $108,350.00 May 2004 - $371,015.00 <br />Additionally, during the month of May, the Fire Prevention/Inspection Bureau performed inspections <br />including compliances, violations and inspections: <br />May 2005 - 548 May 2004 - 469 <br />94 Re-Inspections 112 Re-Inspections <br />The Police /Arson Bureau performed investigations as follows: <br />May 2005 - 16 Investigations, 7 Arsons <br />May 2004 - 19 Investigations, 6 Arsons <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />ACCEPT AND APPROVE RETIREMENT -LIEUTENANT ARMANDO GARCIA <br />Chief Thomas Fautz stated Lieutenant Armando Garcia is retiring in good standing from the South <br />Bend Police Department effective June 14, 2005. He was with the department for thirty-six (36) <br />years, six (6) months and twenty eight (28) days. The Board wished him well in his endeavors. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Alford, seconded by Mr. Taylor and carried, the retirement was <br />accepted and approved. <br />ACCEPT AND APPROVE PROMOTION -STEPHEN BERGER <br />' Chief Thomas Fautz requested that Mr. Stephen Berger be promoted from the rank of Patrolman to <br />the rank of Corporal effective June 27, 2005. He has successfully completed three (3) years of <br />service with the South Bend Police Department. Upon a motion made by Ms Dempsey, seconded <br />by Mr. Taylor and carried, the promotion was accepted and approved. <br />ACCEPT AND APPROVE PROMOTION -ANTHONY IERACI <br />Chief Thomas Fautz requested that Mr. Anthony Ieraci be promoted from the rank of Patrolman to <br />the rank of Corporal effective June 26, 2005. He has successfully completed three (3) years of <br />service with the South Bend Police Department. Upon a motion made by Ms. Dempsey, seconded <br />by Mr. Taylor and carried, the promotion was accepted and approved. <br />ACCEPT AND APPROVE PROMOTION -WILLIAM JOHNSON <br />Chief Thomas Fautz requested that Mr. William Johnson be promoted from the rank of Patrolman to <br />the rank of Corporal effective June 26, 2005. He has successfully completed three (3) years of <br />service with the South Bend Police Department. Upon a motion made by Ms. Dempsey, seconded <br />by Mr. Taylor and carried, the promotion was accepted and approved. <br />ACCEPT AND APPROVE PROMOTION -JOHN COX <br />Chief Thomas Fautz requested that Mr. John Cox be promoted from the rank of Patrolman to the <br />`rank of Corporal effective June 26, 2005. He has successfully completed three (3) years of service <br />with the South Bend Police Department. Upon a motion made by Ms. Dempsey, seconded by Mr. <br />Taylor and carried, the promotion was accepted and approved. <br />ACCEPT AND APPROVE EXTENDED MEDICAL LEAVE -RONALD NOWICKI <br />Chief Thomas Fautz requested the Board grant Sergeant Ronald Nowicki a paid, extended medical <br />leave of approximately forty-two (42) calendar days from June 28, 2005 to August 8, 2005. He had <br />surgery on his leg from a fall and will have exhausted all of his sick, vacation and personal time for <br />2005. Upon a motion made by Ms. Dempsey, seconded by Mr. Taylor and carried, the request was <br />approved. <br />
