:: <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />PUBLIC AGENDA SESSION JUNE 22, 2005 <br />The Board of Public Safety met in the Public Agenda Session at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, <br />2005 with President Jesusa Rodriguez and Board Members Wesley Taylor, Juanita Dempsey and <br />Donald Alford present. Also present were Police Chief Thomas H. Fautz, Fire Chief Luther Taylor <br />and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. <br />The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, 13`" Floor, County City <br />Building, South Bend, Indiana. <br />- Minutes <br />Mr. Bodnar stated the minutes had been reviewed. <br />- Quiet Zone Designation Information <br />Mr. Bodnar stated a change in the Federal Statute states there must be a public designation of <br />the Quiet Zone for train whistles on file in a public place. <br />- Monthly Statistics -Fire Department <br />Chief Taylor stated the statistics were accurate. <br />- Retirement -Police Department <br />Chief Fautz stated this is the first Mexican-American to retire from the Police Department. <br />He noted all retirees will be honored at a special awards banquet on June 26, 2005. <br />- Promotions -Police Department <br />Chief Fautz stated there are four (4) promotions. <br />- Request for Extended Medical Leave -Police Department <br />Chief Fautz stated this accident occurred while the officer was off-duty. The officer does not <br />have any more sick time to use and has requested an extended medical leave. <br />- Amended Finding of Fact -Police Department <br />Chief Fautz stated the officer received adiscipline oftwenty-one (1) days suspension, which <br />was to begin on June 10. Due to the shortage of manpower, Chief Fautz requested the <br />suspension to begin at the end of July. <br />- Monthly Statistics -Police Department <br />Chief Fautz stated the statistics for March and April have been amended. The current <br />statistics indicate a decrease in crime. Chief Fautz stated in high number of aggravated <br />assaults, arsons and residential burglaries are being addressed. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, President Rodriguez declared the meeting <br />adjourned at 8:10 a.m. <br />TTES :~ ~, r <br />Ang a K.
