Y;,. r-- .~;~
-' l`-~ y~
~'~ 4'~ ~~ COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
APRIL 22, 2010
Chairperson Timothy Rouse, called the Community and Economic Development
Committee meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
Committee Members Present: Ann Puzzello
Other Councilmember's Present: Tom LaFountain
Other's Present: Rita Kopala, Gregg Zinetara, Jeff Gibney, David Relos, Mayor Luecke,
Murray Miller, Nancy King, Don Inks
Agenda: 1. Bill No. 10-15 -Amendment to the Airport Economic Development
Area
2. Council Priorities for TIF 2010
Chairperson Rouse began the meeting by noting committee members David Varner
would not be attending due to a memorial service for his mother, nor would Karen White
due to a family emergency. He also noted discussion was to be heard before Council on
the next Monday. Discussion of TIF spending priorities would be rescheduled for a later
date.
BILL NO. 10-15 -AMENDMENT TO THE AIRPORT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
AREA
Don Inks began the presentation of Bill No. 10-15 explaining its intent was to add
properties to the Airport Economic Development Area in four different groupings. Don
prefaced the description of the expansion by pointing out the expansion did not need the
approach of the State through the DLGF. Further, he added, the State required the
acquired properties be taken voluntarily. In the expansion of an economic development
area the city power of eminent domain did not apply.
The first area, Don with the help of Jeff Gibney, described what he called Ignition Park
South. Roughly this is the area north of Indiana Avenue and west of Prairie Avenue
connecting on the east to the present boundary. Jeff noted this acquisition had the full
support of the Rum Village Neighborhood Association.
