Morris has <br />worked in the residential construction field <br />for over 25 years, and plans to bring his 24 <br />foot “mobile woodworking shop” to South <br />Bend to take on the task of rehabilitating the <br />property. He also showed a great deal of <br />enthusiasm regarding this opportunity, taking <br />the time to contact the Historic Preservation <br />Commission to find out more about the <br />structure’s history. Morris also plans to <br />conduct the repairs in an environmentally <br />friendly manner. Per Mr. Morris’s proposal, <br />he would like to begin working on the <br />property this summer and complete the <br />rehabilitation in November of 2011. <br /> <br /> Staff requests the Commission approve the <br />proposal from Mr. Morris to purchase this <br />property for One Dollar. Staff also requests <br />permission to proceed with drafting a <br />Purchase Agreement, including an affidavit <br />from Mr. Morris that he has sufficient <br />resources to complete the renovation. <br /> <br />Mr. Varner asked whether the property’s <br />historic status prevents it from being moved <br />to another location.
