ORDINANCE NO. ~ b ~~ ~~~ <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, APPROPRIATING $220,000 OF BUILD INDIANA GRANT FUNDS WITHIN <br />FUND 230 FOR THE PURPOSE OF FACILITATING ADAPTIVE REUSE OF THE <br />FORMER DREWRYS BREWERY FACILITIES AT 1408 ELWOOD AVENUE <br />Statement of Purpose and Intent: <br />The City of South Bend was awarded a Build Indiana Grant from the State of Indiana, in <br />accordance with Indiana Code 4-30-17, in 2001 to address pre-development costs associated with the <br />potential adaptive reuse of the former Drewrys Brewery complex. A grant agreement between the <br />City and the State of Indiana was executed on September 25, 2001 and subsequently amended on <br />September 23, 2005. The $220,000 grant is to be used to facilitate "...adaptive reuse of the former <br />Drewrys Brewery facilities for development of rental and condominium housing." It is necessary to <br />appropriate these funds for that purpose. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South <br />Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. The sum of $220,000 from a State of Indiana Build Indiana Grant is hereby <br />appropriated and set aside within Fund 230, the Build Indiana Fund, for facilitating adaptive reuse of <br />the former Drewerys Brewery complex (including acquisition, demolition, site preparation, <br />environmental studies and clean-up, disposition, etc.). <br />SECTION II.
