South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting –April 9, 2010

just asking you guys to set aside the pens and
paper of this project and look at the human
aspect. If you were in our shoes, how would
you feel and how would you want the City to
treat you? We have tried to be as
understanding and reasonable throughout this
entire process, we just ask that the City be as
understanding towards us as we have been
with you guys. I thank you for taking the
time to listen to our concerns and just ask
that you think about the Brady household
from a human perspective and not just the
pen and paper of it. Thank you.

Mr. Patrick Keszei
: My parents own the
house currently at 722 E. Hawbaker. I am
representing myself, my parents, my brother-
in-law and my sister. I would like to
summarize everything before I start. This
pond would cause a great deal of pollution
and danger to the area. The pond over there
is extremely nasty and dirty and the City has
demonstrated that they really are negligent in
caring for that area. There is a school next to
that area and this would be harmful to the
students. Would you ant your kids going to a
school that is located next to a sewage dump?
It will decrease the value of all of the
businesses and the surrounding area
residents. It will create a polluted
environment. It will cause my parents a great
deal of cost and anguish. We were not
notified until two and a half weeks ago that
this was a City project. We were earlier
notified by Chris Davey of Grubb and Ellis
that they wanted to purchase the property and
there was no representation that it would be
purchased by the City. Basically, I believe
this was poor planning by the City and they
should have the pond located elsewhere, in
another location that will be more suitable
rather than in a beautiful residential area.
