The ca€nmunity should remain sensitive to this as the neighborhood experiences potential
future land use changes. In reviewing projects such as this, the intent and size of the original structure
should be considered, anal used in such a way as to respect the desires of the residents that wish to remain
in the neighborhood, and acknowledge the development patterns that are occurring.
The conversion of a residential structure in such a way as to increase the number of unrelated individuals
that are capable of living in the unit does not address the issues noted above. This would be a conversion
in either footprint, or number of hedraorns. The honing Ordinance defines "family", briefly, as: ". a
number of persons, but not exceeding two (2) persons who are not related by blood, legal adoption or
marriage, living and cooking . ". This petition is requesting that 5 unrelated individuals be allowed to
reside together, in a home originally built with three bedrooms {based on information from the health
IZepartment).
Considering the structure, its locatio^ relative to the new developments in the neighborhood and the other
single-farniIy residences, the staff would ask that The Board, if it is considering a favorable
recornrrrendation, to Iimit the number of unrelated €ndividuals living in this particular structure, to three
(3).
Sincerely,
^m n
` .r~ ` ff ,~ f,,
'~hrista 1'~ayder, j~
Planner
