Tl--ay will be assigned to <br />srryall operational craws used to address neighborhood blight, park and property <br />vandalism, and genera[ rriaintenance anal Code Enforcezrzent issues. <br />Primary duties will include graffiti remove[, cleaning and cutting hank foliage on city <br />lots, park property acid abandoned properties, mowing operations end the mai3ztenance of <br />the public restroams tluoughout the park system. <br />i?trblic Works - Seasor3r€1 Labor <br />These fifteen employees wil] be an expansion of the current Public Works seasonal <br />workforce, targeted to enforce Buitdir~g Coda Regulations such as moving lawns, alley <br />clean-up, rexnaving illegal dttzriping sites, arzd cleaning and boarding-up abandoned <br />properties, roost of which are found in the lowest irzcatne census tractso <br />The increase in life number of abandoned structures in Sou#h Bend is due to foreclostu~a <br />that in t~.trn has been directly related to the current recession and economic stress. <br />1?Trks and Racr'catian -Seasonal Custodial Laboz• <br />Seven custodial positions would be used to provide basic janitorial functions forihe <br />recreation centers that are open and provide free services across the City of South Bend. <br />Three of these positions were teraxzinated this year because of budgetazy requirements; the <br />other four would be used #o adequately serve theunder-maintained facilities and re#uz'n <br />them to the 2007 standards, l~um Village Nature Center (1), Howard Park Senior Center <br />(l), Charles Black, Sr, Conrzxzunity Center (1), Ma~•tin Luther l~ing,lr.
