244 <br />The Contractor shall have the option under conditions <br />hereinafter provided, to operate and maintain the 340 watt <br />magnetite are lighting units now installed , in lieu of the "6000 <br />lumen incandescent lamps, pendent fixture, dust proof bowl re- <br />fractor" herein provided for in Paragraph 17(A) hereof, and in <br />.lieu of"the the "6000 lumen incandescent lamps, Iron Post, pendent <br />. <br />fixture, dust proof bowl refractor" herein provided for in Para- <br />1 graph 1- (B)-I h-ereof. . Any such magnetite are lighting units so <br />operated by the Contractor shall be removed from service on or <br />before two years from the date of taking effect of this contract, <br />and 6000 lumen incandescent lamps as provided for herein shall be <br />installed in place of such magnetite arc lighting units, and from <br />date of installation maintained and operated during the term of <br />this contract. <br />All property used in the performance of this contract <br />shall be and remain the property of the Contractor. <br />The Contractor shall at its cost furnish all lamp re- <br />newals and light all lamps herein provided for by electricity for <br />a period of ten years from and after the first day of January 1925, <br />at noon. <br />All lamps herein provided for are described according to <br />the rating of the manufacturers thereof. Such lamps shall be so <br />maintained and operated by the Contractor that they will give the <br />maximum aaount of illumination obtainable under commercial con- <br />ditions. Such lamps may be kept in service for the number of hours <br />of normal life specified by the manufacturer in published data <br />current at the time of installation or replacement but no longer. <br />All glassware shall be kept clean by the Contractor and <br />the proper curren <br />t and voltage shall be maintained on all lighting I , <br />circuits, so that the proper conditions for the operation of each <br />lamp at its normal rating shall be maintained. <br />All <br />Iron Posts for the support of street lighting units <br />served from the underground system shall be properly painted by <br />the Contractor, the color to be -determined by the Board of Public <br />Works. -3 <br />LA <br />
