6. Salt shall be medium, coarse or extra coarse grade with a minimum bulls <br />density of 60 lb/ft3 to avoid use of gravel bed in brine saturator tank. <br />C. PHYSICAL PROPERTIES <br />1. Purex or Equal <br />a) The pour (loose) bulk density shall be 1.15-1.25 glml (72-78 lbs/ft.4). <br />b) Production shall be unscreened, receiving a coarse scalping of 10-147nesh. The <br />mean crystal size shall be 290-430 urn. <br />c) The mean surface area of the crystals shall be 65-98 cm. sq/g. <br />d) Sodium Chloride content shall be determined per the AWWA B200-03 standard <br />or per ASTM Standard Methods. <br />e) Morton `s Purex or equal shall be certified to ANSI/NSF Standard 60 when the <br />sodium hypochlorite solution produced by the electrolytic generator will be used <br />for disinfection of drinking ~hater. <br />f) Morton's Purex or equal shall contain no anti -caking or free flowing additives <br />or conditioners. <br />D.
