VI. SOLAR SALT SPECIFICATION <br />A. GENERAL <br />l . <br />The salt will be used to prepare a saturated brine solution which will be used <br />as a chloride source for the on -site hypochlorite generator. <br />2. <br />Bids will be all inclusive. <br />3. <br />Solar salt/Purex manufactured by Morton Salt (or equal) shall be supplied in <br />bulk deliveries and blown into the brine saturator tank using the supplier's <br />truck -mounted blower. <br />4. <br />The existing brine saturator tank has the capacity to receive 25-ton bulk <br />deliveries. <br />5. <br />Equipment such as hoses with the 4" quick disconnect shall be provided with <br />salt delivery by the provider. <br />6. <br />Off-loading truck air pressure shall not exceed 10 p.s.i. for every salt delivery. <br />B. Sodium Chloride content shall be determined per the AWWA B200-03 <br />standard or per ASTM Standard Methods. <br />4. Salt shall be certified to ANSI/NSF Standard 60 when the sodium <br />hypochlorite solution produced by the electrolytic generator will be used for <br />disinfection of drinking water. <br />5. Salt shall contain no anti -caking or free -flowing additives or conditioners. <br />
