Councilmember Oliver Davis made a motion to send Bill No. 04-18 to the full Council with a favorable recommendation. Councilmember Tim Scott seconded this motion which carried unanimously by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. 07-18 PUBLIC HEARING ON AN ORDINANCE TO VACATE THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY: THE RIGHT OF WAY TO BE VACATED BEGINS AT A POINT APPROXIMATELY 565' SOUTH ON SOUTH ST. JOSEPH STREET FROM THE EAST IRELAND ROAD SOUTH RIGHT OF WAY, RUNNING SOUTH APPROXIMATELY 75', THEN WEST APPROXIMATELY 88', THEN NORTH APPROXIMATELY 109' TO A POINT APPROXIMATELY 530' SOUTH ALONG SOUTH ST. JOSEPH STREET FROM THE EAST IRELAND SOUTH RIGHT OF WAY Councilmember John Voorde, Chair of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee, reported that they met this afternoon and send this bill forward with a favorable recommendation. Tom O'Neil, Menard Inc. with offices located at 5101 Menard Drive, Eau Claire, WI, served as petitioner for this bill. Mr. O'Neil stated, I'm here on behalf of Menards requesting the vacation of the southern-most portion of St. Joseph Street. We've been working for some time to assemble enough properties to replace our existing store further to the east. It has been a long time coming but with the acquisition of the former K-Mart property, an acre of additional commercial property, several residences and vacant parcels that were comprised of remnant land occasioned by the Fellows Street overpass, and the INDOT right-of-way we have acquired,we've assembled enough property together to complete this. This is one (1) of our final steps in gaining enough acreage for our new site planning for our new store. This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. Councilmember Karen White seconded this motion which carried unanimously by a voice vote of nine(9) ayes. 10-18 PUBLIC HEARING ON AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 10546-17 BY ADDING NEW SALARIED AND WAGE POSITIONS TO THE ORDINANCE FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES AND WAGES OF APPOINTED OFFICERS AND NON-BARAINING EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 2018 Councilmember Karen White, Chair of the Personnel and Finance Committee, reported that they met this afternoon and send this bill forward with a favorable recommendation. Aaron Perri, Executive Director for Venues, Parks & Arts with offices located at 321 E. Walter Street, South Bend, IN, served as presenter for this bill.Mr. Perri stated,The ordinance before you is actually a change in the salary ordinance.This is something that we mentioned during the budget process.
