REGULAR MEETING February 26, 2018 <br /> None from the public wished to speak in favor of or opposition to this bill. <br /> Councilmember Oliver Davis made a motion to send Bill No. 04-18 to the full Council with a <br /> favorable recommendation. Councilmember Tim Scott seconded this motion which carried <br /> unanimously by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br /> 07-18 PUBLIC HEARING ON AN ORDINANCE TO <br /> VACATE THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED <br /> PROPERTY: THE RIGHT OF WAY TO BE <br /> VACATED BEGINS AT A POINT <br /> APPROXIMATELY 565' SOUTH ON SOUTH ST. <br /> JOSEPH STREET FROM THE EAST IRELAND <br /> ROAD SOUTH RIGHT OF WAY, RUNNING <br /> SOUTH APPROXIMATELY 75', THEN WEST <br /> APPROXIMATELY 88', THEN NORTH <br /> APPROXIMATELY 109' TO A POINT <br /> APPROXIMATELY 530' SOUTH ALONG <br /> SOUTH ST. JOSEPH STREET FROM THE EAST <br /> IRELAND SOUTH RIGHT OF WAY <br /> Councilmember John Voorde, Chair of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee, <br /> reported that they met this afternoon and send this bill forward with a favorable recommendation. <br /> Tom O'Neil, Menard Inc. with offices located at 5101 Menard Drive, Eau Claire, WI, served as <br /> petitioner for this bill. Mr. O'Neil stated, I'm here on behalf of Menards requesting the vacation <br /> of the southern-most portion of St. Joseph Street. We've been working for some time to assemble <br /> enough properties to replace our existing store further to the east. It has been a long time coming <br /> but with the acquisition of the former K-Mart property, an acre of additional commercial property, <br /> several residences and vacant parcels that were comprised of remnant land occasioned by the <br /> Fellows Street overpass, and the INDOT right-of-way we have acquired,we've assembled enough <br /> property together to complete this. This is one (1) of our final steps in gaining enough acreage for <br /> our new site planning for our new store. <br /> This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br /> opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br /> None from the public wished to speak in favor of or opposition to this bill. <br /> Councilmember Oliver Davis made a motion to send Bill No. 07-18 to the full Council with a <br /> favorable recommendation. Councilmember Karen White seconded this motion which carried <br /> unanimously by a voice vote of nine(9) ayes. <br /> 10-18 PUBLIC HEARING ON AN ORDINANCE OF <br /> THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AMENDING <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 10546-17 BY ADDING NEW <br /> SALARIED AND WAGE POSITIONS TO THE <br /> ORDINANCE FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES <br /> AND WAGES OF APPOINTED OFFICERS AND <br /> NON-BARAINING EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY <br /> OF SOUTH BEND FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR <br /> 2018 <br /> Councilmember Karen White, Chair of the Personnel and Finance Committee, reported that they <br /> met this afternoon and send this bill forward with a favorable recommendation. <br /> Aaron Perri, Executive Director for Venues, Parks & Arts with offices located at 321 E. Walter <br /> Street, South Bend, IN, served as presenter for this bill.Mr. Perri stated,The ordinance before you <br /> is actually a change in the salary ordinance.This is something that we mentioned during the budget <br /> process.
