Dennis
explained that the $39,100 request reflected in the substitute bill up for consideration was to be
drawn from the (MPAC) improvement fund. He outlined specifics of the proposed expenditures,
each for upkeep of the Center. With brief discussion, Tim rouse moved to send the bill to full
Council favorably. Councilmember Kirsits seconded and all concurred.
CENTURY CENTER BOM UPDATE
At Chairperson Puzzello's request Dennis Andres Jr. the Council's appointment to the Century
Center BOM, began a review of activity at the Center. He reported that the BOM recently allowed
a 3 year extension to the original 3 year management contract with Global Spectrum. In that
sales and revenues are off considerably, Andres said he favored a 1 year extension; but was
overruled. He complimented Global Spectrum and Manager Kurt Brown for their stewardship of
the facility. Andres noted Matt Rose was hired as a new Director of Sales. Noting hopes this
would hopefully help the bottom line, Andres also suggested pricing flexibility more marketing,
and better help from the CVB as necessary components to increase sales. David Varner thanked
Andres for the feedback noting he voted for the 3 year extension for Global Spectrum seeing their
poor sales more as a reflection of the economy. Tim Rouse asked where sales come from?
Andres said that most business was local. There have not been more conventions. Kyle
Chamberlin, new citizen member of the PARC committee asked what Global Spectrum needed to
succeed? Chairperson Puzzello interjected this was beyond the scope of today's hearing and
adjourned the meeting at 5:13.
There being no further business to come before the Committee at this time Chairperson, Puzzello
adjourned the meeting at 4:22 p.m.
Respectfully Sub fitted,
Ann Puzzello, Chairperso
PARCS Committee
