COMPANY BACKGROUND, EXPERIENCE AND HISTORY: <br />Mission: Greater Impact Lawn Care (GILC) is a business of Transformation Ministries <br />(non-profit) that seeks to teach the youth of South Bend how to work through meaningful <br />employment. <br />Vision: We desire to see the next generation of South Bend youth better equipped, trained and <br />mentored to be great employees and positive members of our community. <br />Experience: Greater Impact Lawn Care was started in 2014 to teach the youth of ISI how to <br />work through meaningful employment. GILC offices are located at 4201 Lincolnway West, <br />South Bend, IN 46628. In 2014, GILC had 4 properties to mow. They have since grown to over <br />225 properties and 40 accounts. Significant past customers include South Bend Parks <br />Department, South Bend Urban Enterprise Association, Near Northwest Neighborhood Inc., St. <br />Joseph Juvenile Justice Center, Excel Center, and Beacon Community Center. GILC does <br />between $40,000-$50,000 in sales each year. <br />GILC has 4 Objectives: <br />1. JOBS - It's our intention to provide jobs for urban youth living in the Michiana area. <br />2. SKILLS - We intend to teach youth life skills through work (Time management, positive <br />attitude, work ethic, financial literacy, workplace behaviors, effective communication, <br />positive self-image, GRIT.) <br />3. TRAIN - Our goal is to train up the next generation of youth in South Bend to work hard <br />and be great employees for future companies. <br />4. QUALITY - We provide quality work and excellent customer service. We stand behind all <br />that we do. <br />Every student who applies to work for Greater Impact Lawn Care is part of an intense, <br />year -long leadership program called Iron Sharpens Iron (ISI). Students apply to be a part of ISI <br />and are interviewed along with their parents before accepted into the program. We currently <br />have 62 under-resourced youth in the South Bend community who are a part of I31. ISI staff are <br />looking for students who are: <br />1. Responsible for themself and committed to the team. <br />2. Respectful to their leaders, peers and others. <br />3. Ready to better themselves and their future. <br />There are 4 main components of ISI: <br />1. Spiritual Growth - Each student is allowed to explore their faith and free to respond <br />accordingly. (We do not accept or reject students based on their faith background). <br />2. Academic Empowerment - Each student is helped academically through after school <br />tutoring, mentors tracking student progress, and college readiness programs. <br />2 <br />
