Bend City Clerk <br />County -City Building, Suite 400 <br />227 West Jefferson Blvd. <br />South Bend, hidiana 46601 <br />RE: Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center <br />Rezoning Petition Revision <br />Dear Mr. Voorde: <br />051.60.02 <br />On January 5, 2010, we submitted a petition for rezoning the site of the proposed Kroc <br />Center to Planned Unit Development.. That petition has had first reading by the Common <br />Council. The Area Plan Commission has scheduled a public hearing in their February 16, <br />2010 meeting. On behalf of The Salvation Army, the owner and operator of the facility, <br />we are requesting an amendment to the petition to reduce the area included in the Planned <br />Unit Developrrzent. . <br />The original,petition submitted in January had the current owners of the property as co- <br />petitioners. The current owners of the original petition area are: <br />City of South Bend Parks & Recreation Board of Commissioners <br />City of South Bend Board of Public Works <br />South Bend Heritage <br />Sherry John and Janette Miller <br />The petition submitted in January had not been signed by Ms. John and Ms. Miller, but <br />the other- three property owners had signed it. <br />After several discussions, with Burkhart Advertising, which leases the John/Miller- <br />property for an off - premises advertising sign, about provisions in the Planned Unit <br />Development for their sign, we have decided to ornit the John/Miller property, and the <br />South Bend Heritage property west of it, from the project area in order to be able to <br />complete the rezoning process prior to the n1anned comrn.e*teerrient of construction of the <br />Center in May. <br />The area north of Western Avenue is shown on the site plan as being used for vehicle <br />parking, with construction of that parking area as a second development phase.
