Williams 30.00 <br />• A letter was received from Ellsworth Butz, Secretary of the South Bend Traffic <br />Commission stating that that Commission had gone on record advising the elimination of a <br />left hand turn by the Portage bus at the intersection of Washington and Michigan Streets <br />and suggesting that the bus be required to continue north on Michigan to Navarre and <br />there turn left. <br />0 <br />It was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that this request be concurred in by <br />this Board and that the matter be referredto the Northern Indiana Railway Company to <br />see if they would not voluntarily comply with this request. <br />The following letter was received from the State Board of Health regarding plans f <br />the intercepting sewers: <br />"Board of Public Yorks <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />"November 9, 1939 <br />"Gentlemen: <br />"This is to advise you that the Director of the Indiana State Board of <br />Health has this 9th day of November, 1939, approved the plans for Section No.l <br />of the South Bend intercepting sewers submitted by Messrs. C. E. Williams and <br />R. B. Plu mer. T?,is section consists of the main interceptor from Logan street <br />to Twenty-first street. <br />"Vdry truly yours, <br />"Verne K. District No. 1, South Bend, Ind. <br />State Board of Accounts." <br />Plans for Intercepting Server Unit No. 1, which is that unit between Logan Street and <br />• Twenty-first Street weaeapproved by the Board and placed on file. <br />Curb returassand parking area on Wayne Street along the siq.e of the Yeager Gar.ag-e <br />were presented to the Board for approval. This plan was referred to the Engineering <br />[,/Department for investigation. <br />Plans for remodeling the filling station at the northeast corner of Miami and Ewing <br />Avenue was submitted to the Board. The Board referred these plans to the Engineering <br />Department for investigation and report. <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Zmudzinski was present and matters pertei ning to his department <br />Were discussed, Mr. Zmudzinski was questioned concerning the disposal of leaves and <br />waste matter accumulated when the streets are swept. He was instructed to make disposi- <br />• ,ion of the majority of this-aiaterial at the Park Department. instead of at the dutupa. <br />Meeting ad'ourned at 12:00 Noon.
