Minutes <br />of the previous meeting were <br />read and <br />approved. Special payroll of the <br />Cemetery <br />Depart-Lnent in the amount of 024.00'and claims <br />of the following suppliers in the <br />amount of <br />$24,202.83 were approved and ordered paid: <br />John H. Christman Company was approv <br />the Board. <br />A letter was received from B.A.Poole, Chief Engineer of the State Bureau of Sanita <br />gineering approving the design data and plans for Section No. 1 of the South Bend <br />tercepting sewers as submitted by Messrs. Clyde E. Williams and Ray B. Plummer. <br />CFTOTERY DEPARTMENT: Lisle F. McNabb was present and filed his report for the month o <br />Qsztober, 1939, showing receipts of 2-L'.151.50. <br />✓TREET LIGTHTING: Mr. Qualls was present and submitted a report on the petition for a <br />street light at the intersection of Ewing and Franklin Streets. His recomm.endatioh is <br />that this petition be held in abeyance until more necessary lights are installed. <br />Petitions for street lights at the intersections of 4tBrien a nd Wervinski a1d <br />Viackson and Colfax Avenues were received and referred to '114.r. Qualls for investigation <br />and report. <br />Mr. Qualls recommended that a street light be placed at the intersection of Donald <br />and Fox", Streets if and when funds are available. The report was accepted. <br />STREET DEPARTIBIT: P1r. Zmudzinski was present and matters pertaining to his department <br />were discussed. <br />Mr.-Zmudzinski turned over to the Clerk of the Board 05.00 which he had received <br />from the sale of an old oiler tank. <br />On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, it was determined that the <br />sty Hall be closed on Saturday, November 11, 1939, in commemoration of Armistice Day. <br />Mr. Willia ils reported to the Hoard that Tyr. Bock of the New York Central and Mr. <br />Phelps of the Michigan Central, together with Mr. nlilliams, had gone over the site of <br />the proposed spur track at the Niles Avenue leased property.
