Mr. Gonas said the complaint could be settled for six <br />or seven hundred dollars, if immediate payment was made. He was informed that in the <br />opinion of the Board, there was no liability on the -cart of the city. <br />A letter was received fr cn Attorney Floyd Jellison, v0--lo represents Anna `1pplegate, <br />✓stating that they will accept 1500.00 for settlement of a claim against the city as a <br />result of personal injuries received byMrs. Appl6gate when she fell after tripping over <br />an alleged defective sidewalk on East South Street. <br />STREET DEPARTIENT: <br />Mr. Zmudzinski was present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />Mr. Zmudzinski reported that the sewer in the 500 and 600 block East Broadway had been <br />inspected, cleaned and the difficulty adjusted. <br />Mr. Zmudzinski reported that Mrs. Edward Detzler of South I+iam:i Street has been <br />burning leaves and trash on asphalt pavement and has refused to comply with the request <br />of the Street Department to desist. The matter was referred to the Board of Safety, to <br />be referrdd to the Chief of Police with instructions to check the ordinance and take the <br />matter up with either Mr. or Mrs. D'etzler. <br />• <br />• <br />
