<br />Regular meeting of the Board of PL1blic Works was held on Monday, July 31, 1939, at
<br />9:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and ap-
<br />proved. Bayrolls of the Street, Sewer and Cemetery Departments in the amount of

<br />• This being the date set for public hearing of IIrTPROVEI1iENT RESOLUTION NO. 2502, and
<br />there being no remonstrators or objectors to said resolution, the same is now adopted
<br />without amendment. TheEngineer filed estimates and the clerk is instructed to advertis
<br />for bids to be received at 10:00 A.I,.I. on August 14, 1939, which advertisements shall ru
<br />in the South Bend Tribune on the 2nd and 8th days of August, 1939.

<br />The following letter was received from Stanley Piers relative to the Garbage Con-
<br />tract, which was awarded to him on July 26, 1939:
<br />t;With reference to garbage contract on which I an
<br />,the fact that I am not able to secure the proper
<br />kindly withdraw my bid and oblige."

<br />The contract for garbage having been already let to Stanley Piers and he having
<br />failed to comply by procuring bond and being unable to procure bond, as indicated by
<br />the above letter, theClerk of the Board is authorized to re -advertise for bids on the
<br />garbage contract in accordance with specifications adopted by this Board on July 3,1939
<br />said publication to be made in the South Bend Tribune on the lst and 8th days of August
<br />1939, respectively, bids to be received at 9:00 o'clock, A.M. on the 14th day of August
<br />1939.
<br />The Board instructed the City Controller to surrender the $500.00 check upon pay
<br />went of 925.00 by 11,1r. Piers tp pay for the cost of advertising occasioned by his failur
<br />to s7ure proper bond.
<br />The Board approved plans submitted by Harry Barnes, Contractor, for the Reliance
<br />Mortgage and Finance Company. The plan is for a proposed driveway for the property at
<br />the northeast corner of I.Tain Street and Western Avenue.
<br />/The Plat of Dixie Grove Subdivision, having been approved by the City Plan Corm.is-
<br />sion, was referred to the Board by Harry H. Vogler, representing Chas. W. Cole. Upon
<br />motion duly carried, the plat was approved. This plat comprises and is described as
<br />follows:

<br />Dixie Grove Subdivision is laid out on the following described real estate situate
<br />in St. Joseph County, in the State of Indiana, to -wit:
<br />Beginning 6n the South line of the Northeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter
