Inc. 191.03 <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: A committee Composed of a representative of the Ohio oil Company, <br />Mr. Arthur Tyler, representing the Wholesale Oil and Gasoline dealers. of South Bend, <br />and Mr. Moomaw, together with Mr. M. Edward Doran, representing the Ohio Oil Company <br />were before the Board relative to the issuance of a permit for the rehabilitation of <br />a bulk storage plant at 1530 W. Washington Street. The Board unanimously recommended <br />the issuance of a permit for the rehabilitation of said bulk plant providing the plans � <br />and specifications were approved by the State Fire Marshal and the Building Department <br />of the city of South Bend, insofar as they pertain to safety regulations, said action <br />having been taken after the Board was informed that the location has been continuously <br />used since prior to 1930 for storage purposes and it being the opinion of the Board <br />that ordinance No. 2670 which provides that <br />"this ordinance shall not affect existing locations and uses made thereof'' <br />should be interpreted to permit rehabilitation of existing bulk storage plants. <br />✓ Mr. M. Edward Doran presented a petition to the Board requesting permission for <br />the First Bank & Trust Co. to erect an after -hour depository do the sidewalk near the <br />Jefferson Street entrance to the Associates Building. This matter was referred to the <br />City Attorney for investigation relative to ordinances prohibiting structures on publi <br />walks. <br />This being the date set for hearing on the proposed contract with the Northern <br />Indiana Railway, Inc. and R. R. Smith, Receiver fort he Northern Indiana Railway, Inc. <br />for franchise or contract to operate busses over South Michigan Street from Broadway <br />south over a route as specified in the agreement and over the route now occupied by <br />the North Side streetcar lines, which route is more particularly described in the <br />agreement on file in the office of the Board, and the contract having been advertised <br />and public hearing set for ten orclock on the 26th day of June, 1939, and no remon- <br />strators having appeared and proof of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune <br />and The Mirror, as provided by law,having been made and also proof of posting of <br />notice in ten public places having been filed, both of vh-ich -roofs are note apt oved b <br />the Board; the Board now enters into said agreement with the northern Indiana Railway, <br />Inc. and R. R. Smith, Receiver for the Northern Indiana Railway, Inc. and said contrac <br />was signed as published and the Board now orders the same to be sent to the Council fo <br />its approval. <br />REPAIR OF FIRE STATIONS: Chief DeVleeschower submitted a report of the estimated cost <br />UT repairs of the various fire stations, The report indicated the cost of painting, <br />the cot of roof repair and the cost of building repairs, separately. <br />STREET LIGHTING: Mr. Qualls filed a report on the petition which had prevusly been <br />filed requesting a street light at Vine and 30th Streets.
