Minutes of the previous meeting were read and <br />approved. Alex Portage Township Trustee <br />and a copy was sent to Harry B. poach, District Director of `edPA concerning projects <br />within the city of South Bend: <br />"The State Highwav Commission and the city of South. Bend are cosponsors <br />on considerable sJPA wor being _erfcrmed in the citj% of South Bend at the <br />present time, which ,cork will continue throu-1hout the spring and s=er <br />months. These projects are primarily street improvement projects on streets <br />over which state highways are routed throu;-;h the city of South :,'--)'end. <br />'tin view of the .fact that tTlle city is cosponsor on these programs and <br />is required to furnish materials, we feel that we are entitled to receive <br />the t6.75 Tier man per menth certified frog_ the relief rolls of Portage Town - <br />shin and emploTred on these rro jects. Ne believe also that sI_nce the projects <br />are being; sponsored b,t the city- as cosponsor, that we are entitled to have <br />Portage Township r, en erployed on these fro jects in order that we may receive <br />the maximum benefits under our contract and in order ILIhat the citizens of the <br />city of South Bend may be employed on -rojects sponsored by the city." <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTT:T'ENT: �rr, <br />P;Tr. Barnes appeared before the Board and estinated the cost of rewiring the City <br />Hall at approximately "'130.00 based on an hourly rate. <br />/Mr. Qualls made a report concerning a complaint which we had previously received <br />to the effect that the street lights at the intersect -on of Longley and Brookfield and <br />Brookfield and Vassar were obstructed by trees and reported that the light was not <br />obstructed at either intersect ton at the present tire. <br />/TvIr. -Qualls reported that the cab on the Electric Department truck was damaged by <br />wind and that the truck had been taken to t he slater j'orks Garage for repair. <br />CEMETERY DEPAR.TT-,' ' ITT : <br />1.'Tr. T;TcT`+abb was present and was ordered to detain :�rrites on tree t rimming. <br />STREET DEPARTMENT:* <br />X?r. Zmudzinski was -present and matters r�erta.ininm to his department were discusse <br />Mr. Zmudzinski T s recorime_n_dation to repair East Jefferson Street with concrete was dis- <br />couraged and he was advised to repair the street using, cinders until some paving progr <br />could be accorrDlished. <br />Contractor t s bond in favor of Ernest L.
