443 <br />MEETING --MARCH 2O, 1939 <br />Regular meeting of the Board of Public Irks was held on Monday, March 21, 1939, at <br />9:15 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and ap- <br />proved. Williams 5>£3.76 <br />South Bend Sanitary Wipers Co. 3.25 Zouth Bend Janitor Supply Co. 20.00 <br />G 'l c ,Gafill Oi1Co. 35.03 <br />AGafill Oil Co. 14.60 , Ga.fill OilCo. 429.54 <br />This being the date set for hearingon Vacation Resolution No. 2500, sane being <br />vacation of alley between Louise Street and Roberts Street and between Lot�'48 and Lots <br />t49, 50 and 51, Baker-11,2cHenry's Addition, there being; no objectors, and no objections <br />having been filed, and the Board being advised of this fact, Vacation Resolution,was ap- <br />proved and referred to the Engineering Department for the purpose of _n.�aking up final <br />estimate ,of benef ita and damages. <br />The hours of the telephone operator were discussed and the clerk of the Board was <br />instructed to notify her that her hours shall be from eight until five with one hour for <br />lunch and from eight until twelve on Saturda- s . <br />�1Ir. Because of new legislation, it is impossible to erect any <br />new street lights. <br />✓The Board's attention was called to a letter received by the Mayor from the State <br />Highway Commission outlining various rules and regulations in obtaining permits to work <br />on cL tY streets �aintai_aed by the Commission. The Engineer was authorized to advise the <br />various deoartments that are effected. <br />/The matter of sins bein^ erected between the sidet,alk and curb was discussed. <br />Mr. 1;ioomaw was present. <br />STREET DEPARTTIENT <br />✓Mr. Zmutinski was present and was authorized to order one one of sweeper broom fibs, <br />from the A. Steiert & Son Company at "atfield, Pa. at 9-3/4 cent per pound delivered. <br />\f Continuat'.on Certificate covering excavation bond in favor of Robert L. Mr. Bear_ier was absent. <br />The following concerns were notified verbally that the Board of 'Xorks and Safety <br />would receive aealed proposals for the removal of the streetcar rails on Street <br />between Chapin and Walnut Streets at 2:00 P.M. today: Hurwich Iron and i.letal Company, <br />The Iviain Iron and Salvage Company, May Schneider and Sam Berman. <br />The proposal of Sam. Berman was the only one submitted, It is as follows: <br />"We hereby submit our bid of (�%5.00) per ton on the street car rails, on <br />Sample Street between Chapin and 'Walnut Streets.
