Verstraete <br />of the necessity of havin~ tl�e work Lone bar a bonded contractor Tlio has posted an ex- <br />cavation bond with the Board or tiorks and also of the necessity of filing a plan of th <br />proposed improvement with th-e Clerk of the Loard. <br />i <br />` The Board approved the -:-)lan _proposing constructicn of a parlfway on East-,olfax <br />Avenue fr CM Sycamore Street east along the Indiana & T,11ichigan ElectricryCo« Company propert�� <br />The Engineer was instructed to inform the Indiana w �,ichigan Electric company of this <br />approval and also to inf orm them of the necessity of obtainin- a per_r_lt for construc- <br />tion work on public thoroughfares. it <br />✓The Board received a petition from the Board of Park Commissioners requesting the <br />establishment of either• a watchman or a flasher at t1Ze intersection of Greenlawn <br />Avenue and the Grand Trunk Western Railroad company and the Board also received in- II <br />formation from the Grand Trunk offic=als that a flasher will be installed at this <br />crossing before the mark season opens. <br />A petition signed by twent�_�-five tax -payers and property ovrners asking for a �I <br />street liM_ht at the intersection of Olive and Lon -ley Avenue was received and was re- <br />ferred to lilr. Qualls of the Electric Department. <br />/mr. Qualls submitted a report upon the need for street lights at the intersection <br />of Indiana and Iiagnolia Streets and at Lubail and Nash Streets, as requested by a <br />petition dated Februe.r-�T 1. final action of the oard was postponed until a later date <br />Mr. Qualls submitted a report of investigE-lion for the need of a street light <br />along the 100 block of East South Street in which the need for a light was considered <br />non -essential. The Board followed the recoY ,,endation of Irir. Qualls and refused the <br />request. <br />Representatives of the Northern Indiana Railway_ Company were requested to attend <br />a meeting of the Board and discuss a petition received by the Board for a bus on West <br />Washington Street between Birdsell and Olive Streets. The street car company official <br />were given until the 27th of I,=arch, 1939, to stud7T the matter and report back to the <br />Board. <br />11 <br />19r. Zmuc dzinski, Street o-imissioner, was present and matters pertaining to his de <br />partment were discussed. The Board approved the _rurc ase of Parts in the amount of <br />250.00 necessary for the repair of t he lgin sweeper and authorized the Street Com- <br />missioner toget these parts and ,lace the sweeper in shape for service. <br />/The Street Commissioner was authorized to purchase two push carts. <br />/14r. J. T. I,IcLonough, a representative of the Crown. Rock Sales Company appeared <br />before the Board and proposed a shipment of t=,ro tons of the material for demonstrating <br />purposes in repairing depressiens in city streets. He stated the_t this Proposal would <br />be verified by a letter and also suggested that a representative wo.ld be sent here to <br />assist the city employees in the construction work.
