MEETING TANUAF.Y 2 , <br />The first meeting of the new Board of Public Works was held on Monday, January <br />2, 1939, at 9:15 A.M. and was held in conjunction with the meeting of the Board. of <br />Safety. Members present were Harry S. Driggs,- Clyde E. Williams and. George N. <br />Reamer. <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were read and the following bills were ordered <br />raid: <br />Clean Towel Service 66.75 C.H.DeFrees, Inc. f�L7.50 <br />1. �-. - .. .. .. <br />On resolution properly made, seconded and duly passed, it was decided that the <br />Board of Public Works and Safety should be divided in the functions of the Boards; aid <br />insofar as it pertained to matters of Public Works, the Board would be presided over <br />by Clyde E.Williams, City Engineer, and insofar as the functions of the Board per- <br />tained to matters of Public Safety, the Chairman of the Board would be George N. <br />Beamer, City Attorney. <br />Frank G. Murray was present at the meeting and discussed matters of policy of tie <br />city. at 1:00 P.M. <br />The meeting was recessed/until January 3, 1939 at 10:30 A.M. <br />/Excavation Bonds, Continuation Certificates and Insurance Policies as follows <br />were approved: <br />✓Excavation Bond in favor of Delbert McNabb �bZ New York Casualty Company; <br />Excavation Bond in favor of 0. J.Shoemaker _by_' National Casualty Company; <br />Continuation Certificate for Excavation Bond in favor of The Sibley Heating. <br />and Plumbing Company ?Y,1`the Employers Liability Assurance Corporation, Ltd.; <br />Excavation Bond in favor of Harry Nicodemus bgt the AmericanB:-nding Co. of <br />Baltimore; <br />Continuation Certificate on James H. pierce and the Massachusetts Bonding and <br />Insurance Company covering contract for collection and removal of garvage; <br />J. H. Pierce W rknen's Compensation and Employers' Liability Policy; public <br />liability and property damage covering various trucks,,public liability covering <br />• ✓drivers, chauffers, helpers and office employees. <br />STREET DEPARTM V letition for <br />vas kn ale edaan ? r ei errec etco , Phne oEle e tri ca� �e°pt and HU.eyS< s.: <br />'The Street Commissioner, Anthony Zmudzinski, was present and the Board authorizd <br />the purchase of one ton of coal for the Street Commissioner's office; twenty gallons <br />of alcohol and other miscellaneous items. He was also ordered to buy sufficient <br />gasoline and kerosene for his need Pend _ng further action of the Board. <br />I/ The Beard requested that a report of the StreetDepartment truck accident be <br />submitted to the Clerk. The Board auth--rized the removal of two tele-ohnnes from. <br />the Street Department and the installati, n of one phone for the Dog Pound Faster. <br />✓The Superintendent of the Street Department was instructed to repair all winter <br />i <br />equipment and place it in condition for emergency use. <br />/The Clerk was authorized to have the listing of the various departments changed <br />on the Board and on the respective doors.
