36 <br />MEETING April <br />RegularL meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on 'Monday, April 11, at. <br />10:00 A. M. All members were present. <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Claims from the following <br />suppliers in the amount of $12,604.24 were approved and ordered paid. Folk & Company <br />15.00 <br />Estate of Clem Studebaker <br />2500.00 <br />Home Modernizing Company <br />6.78 <br />This being the date set for hearing of Vacation resolutions No. 2491, 2492, and <br />24933, and easements not having been,completed, it was decided to postpone final <br />hearing for two weeks, or April 25th. <br />✓ A communication was received f-romthe Indiana Michigan Electric Company, recuest <br />ing permission to replace present brick manholes as shown on their diagram No. 138-.. <br />12 for the purpose of installing duct lines on Viestern Avenue between Pine and Maple <br />Streets, they having received. permission from the State highway Department to cut <br />into the street,this Board authorized the rebuilding of the manholes. <br />✓ Mr. Qualls reported on a petition of property olv-ners requesting a street light <br />on O'Brien .Street between Orange and Linden. After having investigated the matter <br />thoroughly, he did not recommend installing this light and the petitioners were so <br />Inoti.fied. <br />i Mr. Dalton Moornaw reported in reference to a petition for vacation of an alley <br />south of Huron Street from Meade to the first alley west. This matter having been <br />'considered by the City Plan Commission, their recommendation is that this alley re- <br />main as itis at present. The Board concurred in their recommendation and the peti- <br />boners were so notified. <br />I <br />�I ✓A petition asking for the erection of a street light at the corner of Pleas- <br />I11t and. 35th Streets was presented and referred to Mr. Qualls for investigation and <br />report. <br />/ A communication was received from the Polish American Central Civic Committee <br />originally directed to the Mayor asking that the railroads operating through the City <br />.mprove'theircrossi.ngs at Ford Street and also that the railway crossings of the <br />Grand Trunk on Walnut Street be safe -guarded by the employment of a watchman. This <br />utter was discussed and referred to the City Engineer, City Controller and Street <br />• commissioner who are to invite Mr. Joan Buczkowski to look the matter over together <br />d report to the Board. <br />✓Mr. Richard Shidaker and Alfred Penn presented a sketch for the installation of <br />root beer stand and the cuts and changes in curbs which was approved and referred <br />�o the Engineering Department. <br />Meeting adjourned at 11:00 A.
