36 MEETING April RegularL meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on 'Monday, April 11, at. 10:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Claims from the following suppliers in the amount of $12,604.24 were approved and ordered paid. Also Payroll of the various Departments for the first half of April in the amount of $6001.37. Folk & Company 15.00 Estate of Clem Studebaker 2500.00 Home Modernizing Company 6.78 This being the date set for hearing of Vacation resolutions No. 2491, 2492, and 24933, and easements not having been,completed, it was decided to postpone final hearing for two weeks, or April 25th. ✓ A communication was received f-romthe Indiana Michigan Electric Company, recuest ing permission to replace present brick manholes as shown on their diagram No. 138-.. 12 for the purpose of installing duct lines on Viestern Avenue between Pine and Maple Streets, they having received. permission from the State highway Department to cut into the street,this Board authorized the rebuilding of the manholes. ✓ Mr. Qualls reported on a petition of property olv-ners requesting a street light on O'Brien .Street between Orange and Linden. After having investigated the matter thoroughly, he did not recommend installing this light and the petitioners were so Inoti.fied. i Mr. Dalton Moornaw reported in reference to a petition for vacation of an alley south of Huron Street from Meade to the first alley west. This matter having been 'considered by the City Plan Commission, their recommendation is that this alley re- main as itis at present. The Board concurred in their recommendation and the peti- boners were so notified. I �I ✓A petition asking for the erection of a street light at the corner of Pleas- I11t and. 35th Streets was presented and referred to Mr. Qualls for investigation and report. / A communication was received from the Polish American Central Civic Committee originally directed to the Mayor asking that the railroads operating through the City .mprove'theircrossi.ngs at Ford Street and also that the railway crossings of the Grand Trunk on Walnut Street be safe -guarded by the employment of a watchman. This utter was discussed and referred to the City Engineer, City Controller and Street • commissioner who are to invite Mr. Joan Buczkowski to look the matter over together d report to the Board. ✓Mr. Richard Shidaker and Alfred Penn presented a sketch for the installation of root beer stand and the cuts and changes in curbs which was approved and referred �o the Engineering Department.
