3 R. <br />MEETING IVlar chi:' 21, 1938___ <br />Regular meeting of the Board of Public viorks was held o.n Monday, March 21, at <br />10:15 A.M. All members were present. <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br />Claims from the following suppliers in the amount of $776.14 were approved and <br />ordered paid: <br />Hibberd Printing Co. 26.00Belleville Lumber & Supply Co. 18.40 <br />Railway Express Agency .66 4hite Manufacturing Company 37.00 <br />Schuyler Rose, Inca 20.40 Allied Truck Louipment Co. 35.32 <br />Sinclair Refining Co. 498.11 Allied Truck Equipment Co. 6.40 <br />Burroughs Adding Mach. 8.00 Sehermaa-Dchaus Freeman Co. 4.72• <br />Business Systems, Inca 2.50 Barco Manufacturing Co. 5.50` <br />,Business Systems, Inc. 1.45 Holycross & hye Company 1.80 <br />Sanders Lumber Co. 26.00 Edwards' Iron a orks, Inc. .96 <br />Sanders Lumber Co. 30.40?ardor L. Toth Tin Shop 46.72 <br />Business Systems, Inc. 4.75 <br />Mr. Qualls reported upon a petiton for the establishment of a street light at the <br />corner of Phillippa and Indiana Avenues and stated.th.at in view of the fact that <br />there is now a 4000 lumen light at Carlisle Street and one at Olive Street, one block <br />• either way from Phillippa or Indiana -avenue that he felt that other sections of the <br />City needed illumination worse,and did not recommend this installation. The Boardi <br />concurred in his recommendation and the petitioners were so notified. <br />✓ Mr. Qualls reported on a petition forthe establishment of a street light at the <br />intersection of E. Corby and Jacob Streets. After reviewing the situation, he recom- <br />mended that a new 1000 lumen light be. placed at the point requested an d also cme at <br />Jacob and Campeau Street. The Board concurred in this recommendation and gave instruc- <br />tions to have the lights installed at.: an additional cost of $39.60 per year. <br />Mr. Qualls submitted a report upon a petition for the establishment of a street <br />light :at Greenlav%n and LaSalle, recommending that a 2500 lumen light be placed at <br />ithis point. His investigation of the surrounding -territory also revealed the fact <br />that a light should be established at ureenla-wn end Colfax, and the- Board authorized <br />the establishment of a 2500 lumen light at that point at an additional cost of �'62.40 <br />per ,year. <br />'/ Mr. -Qualls reported on a petition. for :the establishment of a street light at <br />; Kizer Court anc1Le1:6nd Avenue, and recommended that a 1000 lumen light;be'established <br />at a cost of $19.80 Der year. The Board concurred and instructions were given to <br />the proper officials. <br />V"Yr. Qualls reported on a petition for the erection of two street lights, one at <br />Humboldt and Brookfield Streets and the other.at the corner of an alley at the begin- <br />ning of the 1300 block on North Brookfield. he recommended that these lights be es <br />tablished., placing a 1000 lumen light at each point at an additional cost of $39.60 <br />per year. The Board concurred in his report and the proper officials were notified. <br />fMr Qualls reported on a petition of Thad M. Tal.cott for the re -lighting of a <br />lamp No. 1006 on East Jefferson, recommending that this light be restored to improve <br />the lighting facilities in that section at an additional cost of '425.20,� per year. <br />The Board concurred in his recommendation and the report was made to .the proper of. <br />ficials <br />Mr. Qualls reported unfavorably upon the petition for the establishment of a light <br />directly across from the Holy St. Marys of the Rosary hall of the Polish National <br />Church, 835 Kosciuszko Street, advising that the streets in this vicinity are-,wj ll <br />lighted and considerably more so than many other sections of the City. The Board con- <br />curred in his report and the Polish National Church was so notified. <br />The Board authorized the in sta l_lation of a 1000 lumen light at the corner of Bow- <br />nan and St. Joe Street end the proper officials were notified to that effect. <br />f The Board received proposals from:>zthe Modern Lecorating Company for the painting <br />lof nose rouses No. 9 and. No. 'll, =`tie %otations being on No. 9 - 4140.00 for two coats <br />and No. 11 - $161.66. 'i c'"Boa-rd deci•d>ed to have No. 9 painted at this time and orderd <br />he bid on No. 11 filed for future reference. <br />• ✓A communication was received from State nigh -way Commission of Indiana, captioned <br />,eneral Letter No. 56-38 vvith. reference to cuts in streets, which was ordered placed <br />n file and a copy furnished each membcer_:' of the Board. <br />`11 The Board discussed conditions in various parts of the City where curbs have been <br />Token and Mr. Zillmer and Mr. "eer were requested to make a survey and report the re- <br />ult to the Board as soon as possible. <br />j Meeting adjourned at 11: 30 A.
