This petition <br />was referred to Mr. Qualls for investigation and recommendation. <br />A petition was received for the establishment of a street light at the Corner <br />o.f Phillippa Street and Indiana Avenue. This petition was referred to Mr. tau alls for <br />investigation and recommendation. <br />The Flasher Maintenance Agreement was received prope--ly signed by officials of <br />the State Highway Commission of Indiana, covering the operation and maintenance of <br />traffic signals on all State Highways in the City of South Bend, covering a period of <br />one year from January 12, 1938 to Dec. 31, 1938. This contract is placed on file in <br />the office of the Board of Public Works. <br />✓A petition signed by the South Bend Dowel Works was presented to the Board, askin <br />for the vacation of an alley west of Lafayette street from Indiana Avenue to the south <br />line of Creed's Second Addition. This petition was referred to the Engineering Depart <br />ment for investigation and recommendation. <br />This being the date set for consideration of Vacation Resolutions No. 2491, 2492, <br />and 2493, anc Mr. Chester A. Perkins being present, after discussion of the matter <br />concerning the easements of the public utilities, definite action concerning the resol <br />utions was postponed for two weeks, or until March 28. <br />Approaches to Service Station at the corner of Eddy -.and Sorin Streets for Mrs. <br />Fannie From were a- <br />pproved by the Board, according to blue print furnished. <br />The Board discussed the result of a meeting with the State Highway Commission <br />last week at which time it was found that the Commission does not and will not be res- <br />ponsible for the cleaning of State Highways throughout the City. It was therefore de- <br />cided and Mr. Weer was given instructions to discontinue the cleaning of these streets <br />immediately. <br />Meeting adjourned at 11: 30 A.
