All members were.present. <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br />Claims in the various Departments from the following suppliers in the amount of <br />8134.65 were approved and ordered paid. T.Ulman, Asst. Entomologist of the Indiana <br />Conservation Department, requesting permission to block off if necessary certain <br />streets in the area bounded by Indiana Avenue on the south, Bronson Street on the <br />north, Fellows Street on the east and Lafayette Street on the west.,. for the purpose <br />of treating lawns and vegetation for the elimination of the Japanese beetle. Permis- <br />sion was granted Mr. Ulman and also allowed him to proceed with the work. <br />/Mr. Frank Murray presented a communication requesting that the Board establish a' <br />definite starting time for its meeting,. which letter was ordered placed on file. Mr. <br />Murray brought up the question of repair+ of bridges and suggested that the City cooper- <br />ate with the County in employing WPA labor, for this work. This matter was referred <br />�oo Mr. Anderson with the request that he report to the Board giving his suggestions <br />n the employment of APA labor onthe repair of bridges Which the City has contemplated <br />doing under its budget. <br />,�A petition was presented by the 51ick Laundry Co. requesting a vacation of an <br />alley south and east of their present laundry building. This matter was referred to <br />lihe Engineering Department for investigation and recommendation. <br />A petition signed by 10 residents requesting the erection of a street light at <br />.he intersection of Kizer Court and Leland Avenue was referred to Mr. Qualls for inves- <br />tigation and recommendation. <br />A petition signed by 19 residents was presented to the Board requesting that the <br />illey between Morris and Gertrude Streets from Prairie Avenue to Ewing Street be <br />traded and cinder.ed or gravelled. This petition was referred to Mr. Anderson for in- <br />restigation and to determine if this could be included in the UPA project. <br />✓'The question of fireand tornado insurance on the fire stations and the City Hall <br />also explosion and civil'eommotion onthe City Hall was discussed and upon recommenda- <br />tion of theMayor the same basis of insurance as:was established three years ago shall <br />be the basis of renewal. The Board decided to place this with four Companies, namely: <br />William G. Elliott, A. Lynn Minzey, 0. C. Denniston and Whitcomb and Keller, equal <br />amount to each. <br />1 Continuation Certificates covering Excavation Bonds were approved in favor of Ed. <br />G. Zimmerman and W. J. "Braunsdorf -& Son and filed with the original bond. <br />✓ A request was received from the Indiana Bell Telephone Company as covered by thek <br />blue prints No. 1-6 inclusive for the placing of underground cable in the existing <br />conduit on East Jefferson Blvd. and removing arial cable from the north side of Mish- <br />awaka Avenue between Twyckenham Drive and 20th Street. Mr. Qualls, having investiga- <br />bed the matter -recommended approval due to the fact that this is reconstruction of the <br />existing outside plant only. The Board gave its approval and the Telephone Company was <br />so notified. <br />
