Co. <br />129.84 <br />Indiana Paint & Wallpaper Co. <br />83.42 <br />A report was made by Building Commissioner Moomaw that the proposed vacation <br />of an alley in Studebaker Place, Fourth Addition, and a section of an alley in an <br />unrecorded plat of the Citizens -Homes Company were approved by the City Plan Com- <br />mssion at their meeting on February 3. This matter.was referred to the Engineer- <br />ing Department for. the purpose of entering a vacation Resolution for further action <br />by the Board. <br />✓ Continuation Certificate in favor of the Distler Plumbing & Heating Company <br />was approved by the Board and filed with the original Bond. <br />Mr. Qualls' report with reference to a request of the Indiana -Michigan Elec- <br />tric Company for permission to reconstruct three manholes located as follows: <br />Intersection of South and Lafayette' -Streets; Intersection of William and South <br />Streets; on East Colfax Avenue west of Sycamore, as shown on Indiana Michigan draw- <br />ing No. 138-17. He recommended that the first two be granted, but suggested that on <br />the third, at Colfax and Sycamore, a permit would have to be secured from the State <br />Highway Commission. The Indiana -Michigan Electric Company 1,,Ias so notified. <br />'Mr.Frank Murray was present at the meeting to call attention to complaints from <br />residents in the vicinity of St. Adelbert's Church.- After discussing this matter <br />with Mr.Murray, the Board suggested that a committee of residents meet with the <br />Street Department and inspect the sewer to satisfy them that the condition at the <br />present time is not at all dangerous. <br />Mr. W. G. Crabill appeared before the Board to discuss the proposal of Daniel <br />Clark with reference to the City purchasing a small triangular strip of land on <br />Highway # 31 in the north part of the City, containing approximately '2900 square <br />feet, for which a price -of 500 per sq. ft. was asked. Mr. Crabill was advised that <br />while the Board considered this price exceedingly high, it was not pgrssible to give <br />it any further or definite consideration due to the fact that any purchase of this <br />kind must be -arranged for in the Budget prior to the purchase. The matter was <br />therefore postponed for future consideration. <br />)Mr. Crabill appealed before the Board representing the Grand Trunk Railway <br />Company with reference to the Board's request to install a flasher system at the <br />G,reenlawn Grassing. It was decided that the Grand Trunk send their Engineering <br />represenatives here at an early date to confer with Mr.Miller, City Traffic.Engineer, <br />The Bard felt indlined to postpone the installation for a few months or until traffic <br />inpreased, but insisted that it s1v1l be done before early summer. <br />✓ Mr.Milbern of.the Sinclair Refining Company presented plans for the remodeling <br />Of a,:`f hAng station at South Bend Avenue and Notre Dame Avenue as per blue prints <br />approved by the Sinclair Refining Company on January 4, 1938. After careful consid- <br />eration of this matter, -the Board upon regular motion seconded and carried, approved <br />curb cuts providing that the Sinclair Refining Company dedicate to the City, for <br />street purposes, the sharp point extending from the station at the intersection of Notre <br />Dame- and South Bend Avenues. <br />d The Board approved the plan of,,a proposed remodeling of a filling station for <br />Percy H. Walsh at Colfax Avenue and Hill Street with revisions as shown on the blue <br />print. This blue print is onfile in the office of the Board of Public Works. <br />Meeting adjourned at 12:45 A.
