333 <br />MEETING _October 18,__ ]:937 <br />Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, October 18, <br />1937, at 9:30 A. M. Mr. Woodward and Mr. Anderson were absent. Mayor Freyermuth <br />was present as a member of the Board ex-officio. <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br />Claims, from the following suppliers, in the amount of $1,282.20 were approved <br />and ordered paid. <br />South Bend News -Times $5.65 Elgin Sweeper Company $5.90 <br />Albert W. Avenue north. Final action on which was postponed <br />g g. a to the fact that no bids were received from <br />contractors, the Board now takes final action and rescinds Improvement Resolution <br />#2490. <br />A petition asking -for the installation of a street light at the corner df <br />Allen Street and Blaine Avenue, signed by fourteen residents in the vicinity, <br />was referred to Mr. Quails, who after having investigated the district <br />recommends that the petition be denied, for the reason that that particular- <br />vicinity is reasonably illuminated under present arrangement of lights. <br />Petition was placed on file. <br />. <br />Surety bond in favor of Charles H. Gollatz of Mishawaka in the Aetna <br />Casualty Surety Company by the Board. <br />and was approved <br />Surety bond of contractor in the -National Casualty Company in favor of <br />Carl H. McClellan was approved by the Board. <br />The Indiana & Michigan Electric Company submitted blue prints and <br />petitioned for permission to install a service manhole near the intersection of <br />the alley east of Michigan Street and the alley north of Wayne Street, also a <br />duct line in the alley east of Michigan and north of Wayne, as shown on their <br />blue print #137-245. Upon recommendation of Mr. Qualls, who made an investi- <br />gation, permission was granted and the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company were <br />• <br />so notified. <br />f A petition, signed by five property owners in the affected district, was <br />presented requesting that water and sewer be installed in Pulaski Street from <br />West Indiana Avenue to the railroad. This petition was referred to the Engineer- <br />ing Department for investigation and recommendation. <br />The meeting adjourned at 10:30 A.
