This report is on file in the office of the Board of Public <br />Works. <br />"The Indiana Bell Telephone Company presented a petition showing proposed <br />installation of underground conduit in the alley north of Indiana Avenue east of <br />William Street, also in Sycamore Street and East Colfax Avenue, as per blue prints <br />attached. Upon recommendation of Mr. Qualls this petition was granted with the <br />understanding that the Telephone Company make satisfactory arrangements with the <br />Filling Station at the corner of Colfax Avenue and Sycamore Street where concrete <br />runways will have to be broken. The Telephone Company was accordingly notified. <br />I Contractors bond in favor of Vern E. Burbridge and C. A. Jorden Company were <br />approved by the Board. <br />J Continuation certificate in favor of Niesgodski Brothers, covering excavation <br />bond, was approved by the Board. <br />The Board approved excavation bond in favor of the Studebaker Corporation. <br />. % A Resolution signed by the Secretary of the International Union, United <br />Automobile Workers of America, Bendix Local No. 9 and a similar Resolution by a <br />committee of members -of the Street Department of the City of South Bend were present <br />ed to the Board asking that employees be given consideration of advance in salary <br />S for the year 1938. These petitions were considered and ordered placed ohjIfile. <br />i A petition signed by eleven property owners on Portage Avenue requested that <br />the viaduct over the New York Central tracks on Portage Avenue be replaced with a <br />new concrete viaduct. This matter was referred to the New York Central for attention. <br />Petition signed by two hundred ninety-one residents was presented to the Board <br />requesting that the Northern Indiana Railway Company extend the bus service now <br />operating on Portage Avenue to the entrances of Riverview and Highland Cemeterys <br />was referred to the Northern Indiana Railway Company for their consideration, <br />The meeting adjourned at 11:30 A.
