307 <br />Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, June 21, 1937, <br />at 10:30 A. M. All members were present. <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br />Claims, from the following suppliers, in the amount of 43,443.71 were approved <br />and ordered paid, also payroll of the various departments, with the exception of the <br />Street and Sewer Departments, in the amount of 41,872.66. <br />• C. Laven submitted plans for approach to filling station at Irvington <br />Avenue and Michigan Street, which were rejected, due to the fact that the plans <br />showed encroachment upon City property. Mr. La_ven was instructed to correct his <br />plans before permit is issued for the installation. <br />✓ Mrs. F. Raff Miller presented a_ list of the lot numbers on her vacant property <br />on which she would like to have assistance in cutting the weeds, in accordance with <br />recent newspaper publication of the Mayor. This list of lot numbers was referred <br />to the Street Department for its investigation and attention. <br />Bids were received from Colip Bros., Inc. and from MacGregor Electric Service <br />Company for the lighting fixtures and installation in the new No. 2 Fire Station. <br />It was decided to place this requirement with the latter concern at a price of <br />$119.00 complete. <br />✓ Special police commission was issued to William H. Longenecker, Sexton at the <br />Cemetery, and special police officer's badge issued to him No. 1001. <br />J The Board approved, upon recommendation of William F. Qualls, Electrical <br />Superintendent, the work outlined by the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company, as <br />proposed under their blue prints numbers 137122, 137105 and 137124. These plans <br />• are on file in the office of the Board of Public 1iorks. <br />Communication was received from 4illiam 1'. Sheehan requesting permission to <br />extend the drive on parking lot on the east side of North Main Street south of <br />Colfax Avenue for an additional five feet. This matter was referred to the City <br />Attorney. <br />Mr. Fred Anderson reported that a street light at the corner of William and <br />Calvert Streets had been requested by residents in that territory and, after a <br />discussion of the matter, the Board ordered that a 1000 lumen lamp be installed <br />and the Electrical Department was so notified. <br />" Mr. Anderson, City Civil Engineer, submitted re -distribution of assessments <br />which were approved by the Board as follows: <br />June 19, 1937 <br />JOH1iSON STREET from Hamilton St. to Pershing St. <br />GRADE, CURB & WALK <br />Roll No. <br />2117 <br />Reso No. <br />Dap.
