29 MEETING April 19, 1937 Regular meeting of the'Board of Public Works was held on Monday, April 19, 1937, at 11:15•A. M. All members -were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Claims in the amount of $255.95 from the following suppliers, were approved and ordered paid. Indiana Bell Telephone Company $,20 G. 0. Thurn $ .75 Indiana Bell Telephone Company - 230.39 G. 0. Thurn 1.25 Indiana Bell Telephone Company .15 City Water Works 13.64 No. Indiana Public Service Co. 1.00 City Water Works .57 South Bend Wholesale Drug Co. 8.00 A petition requesting the change of location of a street light from the inter- section of Fassnacht Avenue and.Wilber Street to the intersection of Fassnacht Avenue and Birdsell Street was referred to Mr. Qualls for investigation and recommendation. Contractor's bond in favor of Ernest L. Longway in the Fidelity & Deposit Company of Maryland was approved. A petition signed by sixteen residents and property owners requesting improvemert of the alley between O'-Brien and Huey Streets from Orange Street to Linden Avenue by leveling and resurfacing was referred to the Street Department for attention. A petition was received signed by forty residents and property owners requesting that alley from Linden Avenue north to Fassnacht Avenue and from Walnut Street west to Studebaker Street be graded and refilled with cinders. This petition was referred to the Street Department for attention. Upon recommendation of Frederick J. Anderson, City Civil Engineer, the following Vacation Resolution was approved, being Vacation Resolution No. 2488: COPY OF VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2488 RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: That it is desirable to vacate the following: ALLEY NORTH OF SAMPLE STREET from the Alley West of LaFayette Blvd. to the west line of Garst's Addition, and 2nd ALLEY ViEST OF LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD from the south line of Tutt Street projected west, to Sample Street. • The following property may be injuriously or beneficially effected by such vacation: Lots 156 to 170 inclusive, and 233 to 247 inclusive in Daniel Garst's 1st Addition. Notice of this resolution- shall be published on the 23rd day of April and on the 30th day of April 1937 in the South Bend Daily Tribune and News -Times. This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the 3rd day of May 1937 at �10:30 A. M. will hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by these proceedings. • Adopted this 19th day of April 1937. Frederick J. Anderson Edwin_ A. Thurn, Clerk of the Board • Mr. Fred Noble requested that the Board give attention to East Bartlett and East Marion Streets from Michigan Street to the river which should be repaired, as they are now -in very bad condition.
