29 <br />MEETING April 19, 1937 <br />Regular meeting of the'Board of Public Works was held on Monday, April 19, 1937, <br />at 11:15•A. M. All members -were present. <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br />Claims in the amount of $255.95 from the following suppliers, were approved <br />and ordered paid. <br />Indiana Bell Telephone Company $,20 G. 0. Thurn $ .75 <br />Indiana Bell Telephone Company - 230.39 G. 0. Thurn 1.25 <br />Indiana Bell Telephone Company .15 City Water Works 13.64 <br />No. Indiana Public Service Co. 1.00 City Water Works .57 <br />South Bend Wholesale Drug Co. 8.00 <br />A petition requesting the change of location of a street light from the inter- <br />section of Fassnacht Avenue and.Wilber Street to the intersection of Fassnacht Avenue <br />and Birdsell Street was referred to Mr. Qualls for investigation and recommendation. <br />Contractor's bond in favor of Ernest L. Longway in the Fidelity & Deposit <br />Company of Maryland was approved. <br />A petition signed by sixteen residents and property owners requesting improvemert <br />of the alley between O'-Brien and Huey Streets from Orange Street to Linden Avenue <br />by leveling and resurfacing was referred to the Street Department for attention. <br />A petition was received signed by forty residents and property owners requesting <br />that alley from Linden Avenue north to Fassnacht Avenue and from Walnut Street west <br />to Studebaker Street be graded and refilled with cinders. This petition was referred <br />to the Street Department for attention. <br />Upon recommendation of Frederick J. Anderson, City Civil Engineer, the <br />following Vacation Resolution was approved, being Vacation Resolution No. 2488: <br />COPY OF VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2488 <br />RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: That it <br />is desirable to vacate the following: <br />ALLEY NORTH OF SAMPLE STREET from the Alley <br />West of LaFayette Blvd. to the west line of Garst's Addition, and <br />2nd ALLEY ViEST OF LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD from <br />the south line of Tutt Street projected west, to Sample Street. <br />• The following property may be injuriously or beneficially effected by such <br />vacation: <br />Lots 156 to 170 inclusive, and 233 to 247 inclusive in <br />Daniel Garst's 1st Addition. <br />Notice of this resolution- shall be published on the 23rd day of April and on <br />the 30th day of April 1937 in the South Bend Daily Tribune and News -Times. <br />This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the 3rd day of May 1937 at <br />�10:30 A. M. will hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or <br />affected by these proceedings. <br />• Adopted this 19th day of April 1937. <br />Frederick J. Anderson <br />Edwin_ A. Thurn, Clerk of the Board <br />• Mr. Fred Noble requested that the Board give attention to East Bartlett and <br />East Marion Streets from Michigan Street to the river which should be repaired, as <br />they are now -in very bad condition.
