MEWING February 15, 1337 <br />Regular meeting of the Board of''Public Works was held on Monday, February 15, 1337, <br />at 10:30 A. M. Mr. Woodward was absent. <br />Claims in the amount of $503:11, from the following suppliers, were approved and <br />ordered paid.. <br />teorge Wyman & Company <br />Bock Welding Company <br />Sinclair Refining Company <br />National Cylinder Gas Company <br />Motor Service & Parts, Inc. <br />The Office Engineers, Int. <br />Business Systems, Inc. <br />F. D. <br />$5.95 Electric Construction Co. <br />7.43 Sears, Roebuck & Company <br />28.20 Maurice Hoban <br />4.18 Schuyler Rose, Inc. <br />1.75 Gill-Vorn Chevrolet, Inc. <br />1.75 Wiilette Service Station <br />7.00 Nu Art Fibre Products <br />4.00 <br />$14.13 <br />.55 <br />20.00 <br />347.2.0 <br />16.35 <br />32.12 <br />12.50 <br />A petition,'sgned by nine owners and residents located'on Kentucky Street, <br />requested the Board to improve that street with cindersor gravel. The matter was <br />referred to the Street Department --for investigation and recommendation'. <br />Mr. Weer requested the privilege of advertising at this time for bids for a new <br />sweeper, there being in the budget an -item to cover the initial installment payment. <br />It was regularly moved, seconded and carried that -bids -be -advertised for and Mr. Weer <br />was instructed to submit his specifications -for the new sweeper. <br />Resolution referred by the City Council to the Board of Works was presented <br />with reference to removal of street cars from the streets of the City and the establish- <br />ment of motor busses. This Resolution was taken under advisement for prompt consider- <br />ation. <br />Mr. Walls submitted his report regarding the -petition presented by property <br />owners in the vicinity of 26th Street -and Pleasant -Street for the installation of a <br />street light at that corner. Mr. Qualls recommended that a 1000 lumen boulevard lamp <br />be removed from Twyckenham Drive and Mishawaka Avenue at a saving of $27.00 per year <br />And that a 2500.1umen lamp be installed at the intersection of 26th and Pleasant <br />Streets at a cost of $31.20 per year, showing- a net expenditure in excess of present <br />.system of $4.20,per year. The Board concurred in this recommendation and instructions <br />were given Mr. Qualls to make necessary arrangements with the Indiana & Michigan <br />]Jlectric Company. <br />Continuation certificate covering excavation bond of Ferdinand & Futter was <br />approved by the Board. <br />it A petition signed by twenty one residents and property owners in the vicinity of <br />!Portage and Elwood Avenues was presented to the Board, requesting that alley between <br />Jlot C and Lot No. 8 and between Lots B and 20 and Lot 9 in Victory Addition be vacated <br />-land have it graded and graveled. This petition was referred to the Engineering Depart- <br />Iment for investigation and report. <br />The following Vacation Resolution was approved by the Board, same being <br />Resolution 2487, reading as follows: <br />VACATION RESOLUTION No. 2487 <br />RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: That it <br />is desirable to vacate the following: <br />1st ALLEY EAST OF WEBSTER STREET from <br />the north line of lot 1 Toth's Addition to the south <br />line of lot 4 Toth's Addition. <br />The following property may be injuriously or beneficially effected by such <br />vacation: <br />Beginning at the northeast corner of Webster Street and Prairie Avenue, <br />thence north along the.east line of Webster Street to the north line of lot 3 <br />Noland"s Addition, thence east along said north line of lot 3 Noland's Addition <br />to the east line of said lot 3, thence south along said east line projected a <br />distance of 121.5 to a point, thence southeasterly to a point on the north line <br />of Prairie Avenue being 183.25 ft distant -from the east -line of Webster Street, <br />thence south westerly along the north line of said -Prairie Avenue to east line <br />of Webster Street, the place of beginning. <br />Notice of this resolution shall be published -on the 18th day of February and on <br />the 25th day of February 1937, in the South Bend Daily Tribuen and News Times. <br />This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the 1st day of March at 11:00 A. M. <br />will hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by these <br />proceedings. <br />Adopted this 15th day of February 1937. <br />ATTEST: G. 0.
