27 <br />MEETING February 1, 1937 <br />Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, February 1, 1937, <br />at 10:10 A. M. All members were present. <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br />Claims in the amount of 1,736.63, from the following suppliers, were approved <br />and'ordered paid: <br />Armand L. Meyer & Son, Inc. <br />4.86 <br />9.50 <br />City Wlaater Works <br />250.00 <br />86.00 <br />Mr. William Longenecker, City Sexton, submitted his report of activities in the <br />Cemetery Department for the month of January, showing collections made of $578.50, of <br />which $378.00 was for perpetual care of lots. The report is on file in the office of <br />the Board of Public Works. <br />Continuation certificate covering excavation bond in favor of the Distler <br />Plumbing & Heating Company was approved and attached to original bond. <br />The Board approved assignment of Emery J. Fredericks of the proceeds of his <br />contract for installing a new boiler at the Central Fire Station to Armand L. Harris, <br />attorney -in -fact, which was filed with the original contract. <br />Mr. Anderson reported regarding the building of tool shed under the sidewalk at <br />the Poledor Building, stating that he saw no objection to it if the matter was <br />approved by the Chief of the Fire Department, to whom it was referred. <br />A petition was received from sixteen residents and property owners in the vicinity <br />of 26th Street and Pleasant Street, requesting a street light be installed at that <br />corner. The matter was referred to Mr. Qualls for investigation and report. <br />Mr. A. A. Schellinger, manager of the Washington -Colfax Apartments, requested <br />that a loading zone be established at Colfax and Washington Streets at the entrance <br />of these apartments. The matter was referred to Officer Ernest H. Miller of the <br />Traffic Bureau for investigation and recommendation. <br />Mr. Clark of the Aristo Cleaners was present at the meeting and requested the <br />privilege of putting up a new building in close proximity to their present plant to <br />be used for the re -conditioning of their cleaning compound. Since there is a conflict <br />between the Fire Marshal's regulations and our own Code as to the distance such a <br />building should be from their main plant, this matter was referred to the Chief of <br />the Fire Department and to the Building Commissioner for investigation and recommen- <br />dation. <br />The meeting adjourned at 11:15 A.
