275 <br />- _-------------___—.-- - __ _-____ -- MEETING January__, 5, 1937. <br />Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, January 25, <br />19372 at 11:30 A. M. All members were present. <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br />Claims, from the following suppliers, in the amount of $1,362.71 were approved <br />and ordered paid, also payroll in the various departments amounting to $5,004.16. <br />Northern Indiana Public Service Co. $1.00 Indiana & Michigan Electric Co. $5.31 <br />South Bend Tribune 6.12 Indiana & Michigan Electric Co. 22.44 <br />South Bend News -Times 6.12 South Bend Auto Products 483.00 <br />Royal Typewriter Co., Inc. 2.00 South Bend Auto Products 5.80 <br />South Bend Wholesale Drug Co. .75 Broadway Pharmacy 13.03 <br />Wolverine Insurance Co. .31 Zeltner Hardware 51.73 <br />Underwood -Elliott Fisher -Co. 103.50 Socony-Vacuum Oil Co., Inc. 136.20 <br />J. C. Weer for B. J. Tractor Co. 31.07 <br />Arthur L. Knapp 100.00 <br />Mr. R. V. Maurer of Maurer & Maurer Architects presented contract which was <br />approved by the Board for the architectural work and supervision of remodeling of <br />the No. 2 Hose House at 817 South LaFayette Street. Mr. Maurer also submitted blue <br />prints in full and specifications. This contract and specifications were approved <br />by the Board and instructions given to advertise for bids in the regular way, <br />according to specifications, bids to be opened on Monday, February 15th at 3:00":P..MfF <br />Mr. Qualls submitted a sketch showing the installation of fourteen lights for <br />the Bottle Neck and the Board approved same and directed the installation be made <br />as soon as practical. <br />Three petitions of George A. Knoblock, George H. !layer and Clytie Mayer <br />requesting re -spread of assessments for Washington Street Condemnation and Opening <br />Northwest Trunk Sewer and grade,; curb and walk in Lincoln Manor Third Addition. <br />• These petitions were referred to the Engineeri-.g Department for attention. <br />The Board approved contract bond of Emery J. Fredericks covering the installation <br />of a new boiler and stoker in the Central Fire Station and removal of the old boiler <br />which has been placed on file. <br />The Board authorized the purchase of five new window shades for the Council <br />khambers at an expense of $20.25. <br />The Board authorized the Aurchase of floor covering for the Police Station and <br />the Building Depart -lent office, also removal of the covering in the Police Station <br />and using such part as will be good enough for patching in the Detective Bureau. <br />Cost to be $170.30. <br />The request of Leo J. Lambertson, Attorney for Poledor Bros., to construct <br />tool shed under the sidewalk at the Poledor-Building, was considered and it was <br />decided to refer this matter to Mr. Anderson to look into the details particularly <br />and see if wood construction L<as practical under the sidewalk on City property. <br />The Building Department submitted a summary of the work of the department for <br />the .year 1936, which is on file in the office of the Board of Public Works. <br />Continuation certificate of excavation bond in favor of Morris L.
