Barkowski, who struck_a manhole on East Calvert Street, and that <br />adjustment had been made in this matter by having Mr. Barkowski's car fixed in the <br />Street Department. <br />The Board gave instructions to have Lushion Carter, one of the janitors, appear <br />before the Board. next Monday, as some had been received regarding his work in <br />the City Hall. complaints MEW <br />Bids were considered to repair the No. 2 boiler in the City Hall by the replace- <br />ment of a full set of boiler tubes and cleaning out boiler, repairing brick work and <br />repairing end hand plates from Edwards Iron Works of $250.00 and Bock Welding & Boiler <br />Works $244.50. The contract was awarded to Bock Welding & Boiler Works and instruc- <br />tions given to proceed with the work immediately. <br />Pursuant to advertising in the newspapers, under dates of January 7th and 14th, • <br />bids were received for the installation of a new boiler in the Central Fire Station <br />and the removal of the old boiler, as per specifications submitted by the Mayor. <br />These bids were -as follows: <br />John G. Hawblitzel & Son 21521.00 <br />j Harry Nicodemus, Inc. 1,995.81 <br />j Fredericks Plumbing & Heating Co. 1,925.00 <br />After considering all bids and a consultation with the Mayor, it was decided to award <br />this i!�iork to the Fredericks Plumbing & Heating Company, and the City Attorney was • <br />requested to draw up the contract, and work to be begun immediately. <br />Certification of plans and specifications filed with the Administrative Building <br />Council of Indiana at Indianapolis by Maurer & Maurer, Architects, was approved by <br />the State Inspecting Architects and this certificate is placed on file in the Board <br />of Public Works. <br />Application for work as janitor for work in the City Hall was received from <br />Leslie Morning, 1122 Bissell Street, who has lived in South Bend since 1914. <br />Continuation certificate covering excavation bond in favor of C. S.
