255 <br />MEETING_November_3O_,_ J36 <br />0 <br />Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, November 30, <br />1936, at 11:00 A. M. Cor. <br />Western & Gladstone Sts. <br />Rate <br />34.80 <br />Year. <br />THIS <br />WILL MAKE <br />A SAVING OF ....................... <br />555.60 <br />Year. <br />It was regularly moved, seconded <br />and carried that all of <br />these lights be <br />turned <br />out if necessary for this purpose. <br />Mr. Qualls also reported that he had requested the Indiana & Michigan <br />Electric Company to install a 4000 lumen lamp at the corner of Michigan and <br />Farnaman Streets, this being an es U7.50 <br />cially dark location and a light is really <br />necessary. The expenditure to be per year, which the present budget will <br />permit. <br />Mr. John Buczkowski was present at the Board Meeting and was informed that <br />City Officials had conferred with W.P.A. officials in reference to the re- <br />surfacing of Western Avenue and that estimates were now being prepared for the <br />cost of the material, after which the Board would be glad to consider the matter <br />with him again. <br />.Mr. D. L. Warren of the Northern Indiana Railway Company appeared before <br />the Board and requested the privilege of constructing a stairway from the end <br />of Peashway Street to the lower level on Michigan Street, Road #31. The matter <br />was taken under advisement in the hope that arrangements could be made with the <br />State for right-of-way through their property at an alley south of the above <br />intersection. <br />The Inland Bonding Company presented a request for redistribution of <br />assessments to certain property assessed under River Park District Trunk <br />Sewer #3, Roll #1763. This matter was referred to the City Engineer for <br />• investigation and recommendation. <br />A communication was received from the Chicago South Shore and South Bend <br />Railroad, stating that they have made arrangements to have future cars of <br />coal unloaded on tracks along their own property occupied by the South Bend <br />Flour & Feed Company. A communication has been addressed to the Common Council <br />reporting on this matter. <br />Communication was received from the Common Council requesting that a <br />certain brick pillar erected by the Colpaert Realty Corporation at the corner <br />of Mishawaka Avenue and Twyckenham Drive be removed, as it appears to be a <br />traffic hazard. The matter was referred to the engineering department of <br />the Accident Prevention Bureau for investigation and a communication addressed <br />Ito the Colpaert Realty Corporation Requesting its removal. <br />
