Willette <br />54.55 <br />PetersonBattery& Ignition Co. <br />2.98 <br />South Bend Supply Co. <br />.50 <br />South Bend Auto Products <br />42.60 <br />Mr. Anderson brouph't up the matter of repairs for the Colfax Avenue Bridge and <br />stated that the Pitt Bridge Company of Pittsburgh has offered to furnish roller <br />bearings necessary at a price of $476.00, while the quotation from -the Edward's Iron <br />Works of South Bend was more than $900.00, and requested the privilege of purchasing <br />these bearings from the Pitt Bridge Company if found necessary. Approval of the Board <br />was obtained. <br />A petition signed by 17 residents in that Jackson Street from Sample Street to <br />Dunham Street be oiled and rolled was received and the Board decided that if the <br />residents would supply the oil the Street Department would furnish the labor. <br />Petitioners were so advised. <br />1r. Anderson offered a cor=iunicetion from the - Indiana & 1 ichigen Electric Company <br />in which they proposed to place the charges for lig�htin city buildings upon a. <br />m comercial service tariff changing it from the present wilding tariff. Their <br />estimate for the saving for the first six months of this year vies approximately $29.00, <br />indicating that this would be the rate of saving continuously. The Board authorized <br />the Clark to sign a contract to this effect, with the understanding that should the <br />Board find it advisable it ria.y have the privilege of changing back to the public <br />building tariff in the future. <br />A petition signed by 2 property owners, it being purported that these were the <br />only two affected, was resented to the Board requesting that a certain strip of land <br />S16 ft. wide, commonly known as an alley, running east and west parallel with Lincoln <br />Way Nest from Sheridan avenue to Chicago Street, be vacated. The petition was referred <br />to the Engineering Department for investigation and recomrendation. <br />• <br />0 <br />- fir. J. C. ;`leer, Commissioner of Streets, submitted his report of the work done by <br />his department during the months of June end July 1936. These reports are on file in <br />the office of the Board of Public Works. <br />William Longenecker, City Sexton, reported having contracted for perpetual care <br />with Mr. and Mrs. Clyde W. Specer of Lot 8-15-1-E. Nr. Longenecker also made a report <br />that the operation of the City Cemetery for the month of July showing receipts of <br />410.00. This report is on file in the office of the Board of Public Works. <br />Public liability policy covering the Street Department fleet from August 2, 1936 <br />to August 2, 1937 in the Ohio Casualty Insurance Company of Ohio, placed through <br />vVilliem G.
