�12 <br />MEETING aril 20,_1936 <br />Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, April 20, 1936, <br />at 11:00 A. M. Strang Hardware <br />22.00 <br />Mr. John Buczkowski was present at the <br />Board and discussed the matter of <br />lighting <br />on Western Avenue at Phillipa and <br />Harris Streets, also the stop and go light <br />at <br />Western Avenue and Olive Street. <br />After a considerable discussion, the Board <br />took the <br />matter under advisement. <br />Mr. John Buczkowski requested the privilege of stringing a banner across Michigan <br />,Street between the Palais Royal and the Granada. Theatre advertising Roosevelt for <br />President. After considering the matter, the Board decided not to grant this request. <br />Isar. Frank Murray was present and called attention to an article in the paper <br />recently where the Indiana Avenue merchants cleaned their own street, and registered <br />his opinion that there was sufficient money appropriated in the Street Department for <br />cleaning streets and keeping them clean. After considerable discussion regarding such <br />matters in which Mr. Veer, Street Commissioner, took an active part, no definite action <br />was taken. <br />This being the date set for hearing of Vacation Resolution #2482, same being <br />vacation of Leeper Avenue from the north line of Angella Avenue to the north City <br />Limits, the matter was brought to the attention of the Board and, due to the fact that <br />work on the Bottle Neck on Michigan Street has not been completed, the Board decided <br />to postpone action on above vacation resolution until July 20th. <br />Mr. Veer submitted his report of the activities of the Street Department and <br />Sewer Department for the month of larch, which report is on file in the office of the <br />Board of Public Works. <br />Yx. Qualls submitted a report of street lighting.on Western Avenue at' Walnut <br />Street underpass, showing the additional cost for lighting on this thoroughfare after <br />the elevation of $579.00 over the cost of the previous lighting system.
