MEETING March 23 , 1936 <br />Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, March 23, 1936, <br />at 10:30 A. M. All members were present. <br />Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved.' <br />Claims in the amount of $772.08, from the follow:ng'suppliers, were approved and <br />ordered paid and also payroll of the various departments for the last half of March <br />amounting to $19,064.16, this excluding the street and sewer departments. <br />Indiana Paint & Wallpaper Co. .099.10 R. C. Larkin Company $25.45 <br />Martin Kaniewski 37.50 The Silo Company 2.91 <br />South Bend auto Products 595.25 Office Supply & Equipment Co., Inc. 2.30 <br />Austin -Western Road Mchy. Co. 9.57 <br />Mr. Qualls was present and a discussion followed regarding outages on street <br />lights and it was decided to in some manner mark the posts of the lights that are <br />i intended to he out. Mr. qualls was instructed to confer with the Indiana & Ilichigan <br />Electric Company to see if they would not paint such posts with a suitable mark to <br />designate them which would make the task of reporting outages by police officers simple. <br />Mr. Qualls is to report at the next regular meeting. <br />Mr. Anderson presented a sketch of the plan for the extension of Elwood Avenue <br />from the west city limits east to Lincoln Way West and stated that the Bendix Aviation <br />Corporation would donate a part of the necessary ground for this opening and that <br />Katherine Klingel asked $2,000.00 for that part of the opening which would pass through <br />Iher property. After a discussion of the matter, it was.regularly moved, seconded and <br />carried that it be referred to the Controller to ascertain where the funds would be <br />;available to carry out this plan. <br />Mr. Longenecker, City Sexton, requested the privilege of purchasing one complete <br />power unit for trimming; grass around monuments at an expense of $140.00. The Board <br />took this under advisement to be re -considered at its next meeting. <br />Excavation bond in the amount of $1,000.00 in favor of George YcNab in the New <br />York Casualty Company was approved. <br />j Mr. Qualls submitted a report with reference to traffic lights in the City whereby <br />the saving of $25.30 per month can be made and he was instructed to communicate with <br />the Indiana & 1:_ichigan Electric Company regarding same. Report is on file in the <br />1office of the Board of Public Works. <br />The New Jersey, Indiana & Illinois Railroad, in a communication dated March 18th, <br />advised that necessary repairs to their Ford Street pedestrian crossing would be made <br />at once. <br />Communication from Howard L.
