MEETING DECEMBER 23, 1935 Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on December 23, 1935 at, 9:30 A. MI. All members were present. Z"inutes of previous meeting were read and approved. Claims in the amount of $633.37 were approved and ordered paid, also payrolls of the Street and Sewer Departments amounting to 5,603.83. The following letter was directed to be sent to the Highway Commission which was done. Adams, Chairman Dear Sir: Your letter of December 21st to the Mayor of the City of South Bend was received by him and referred to the Board of Public Works. We are obliged to advise you that due to legal complications which have arisen in respect to the condemnation of the necessary right-of-way it is impossible for us to have the matter entirely cleared so that bids could be let by January 28th. A letter from the St. Joseph Loan & Trust Company was received, requesting re - spread of assessments on Trots 1 and 2 in Vail's Addition, Block No. 5, recorded in Deed Book No. 278, Page 384, as of November 19, 1935. The Secretary was directed to address the following letter to the Trust Company, which was done. December 24, 1935 The St. Joseph Loan & Trust Company South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: Your letter of December 18th with reference to re -spread of Lots 1 and 2 in Vail's Addition, Block No. 5, received and please be advised that this does not come within the provision of the law for re -spread of assessments .and we are, therefore, unable to comply with your request.
