MEETING SEPTEMBER 9, 1935 <br />Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, September 9, 1935, <br />at 11:00 A. M. Meyer & Son, Inc. <br />9.81 <br />Electric Construction Co. <br />.30 <br />A Petition signed by approximately five hundred property owners in the vicinity of <br />Portage Avenue was presented to the Board and a number of personal representatives were <br />present requesting the Board to consider some improvement of the pavement on Portage <br />Avenue under W. P. A. arrangements. After discussing pavement or resurfacing of the <br />street, the matter of widening was also discussed and the representatives present <br />requested the Board to give them some approximate figures of the cost of widening the <br />street two or four feet equally on each side in view to their ascertaining whether <br />those affected would be able to raise the money for the work. The matter was left for <br />furthur consideration at the next meeting of the Board. <br />Nor. Charles Lewinski was present and also Mr. and Mrs. Sroda and their daughter <br />complaining about the condition of their property since the elevation at Western Avenue <br />and Walnut Street and requested the Board to make further investigation of this <br />situation with a view to offering them some relief. It was regularly moved, seconded <br />and carried that this investigation be made this week and that the matter be further <br />discussed with them at the next meeting of the Board. <br />A Petition was received from the owners of lots S. 91 10 and 11 of W. A. Bugby's <br />First Addition, requesting that the alley directly south of said lots be vacated. This <br />matter was referred to the Engineering Department for investigation and recommendation. <br />Redistribution of two parcels were approved by the Board as follows; and referred <br />to the Controller: <br />August 30, 1935 <br />18th STREET Grade, Curb & Talk <br />Roll No. 1616 <br />Reso No. 1265 <br />Dup.
