MEETING SEPTEMBER 9, 1935 Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, September 9, 1935, at 11:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of meeting of September 3rd were read and approved. Claims in the amount of $8,1670.55 were allowed and ordered paid, also payrolls of the various departments amounting to $5,452.50. Meyer & Son, Inc. 9.81 Electric Construction Co. .30 A Petition signed by approximately five hundred property owners in the vicinity of Portage Avenue was presented to the Board and a number of personal representatives were present requesting the Board to consider some improvement of the pavement on Portage Avenue under W. P. A. arrangements. After discussing pavement or resurfacing of the street, the matter of widening was also discussed and the representatives present requested the Board to give them some approximate figures of the cost of widening the street two or four feet equally on each side in view to their ascertaining whether those affected would be able to raise the money for the work. The matter was left for furthur consideration at the next meeting of the Board. Nor. Charles Lewinski was present and also Mr. and Mrs. Sroda and their daughter complaining about the condition of their property since the elevation at Western Avenue and Walnut Street and requested the Board to make further investigation of this situation with a view to offering them some relief. It was regularly moved, seconded and carried that this investigation be made this week and that the matter be further discussed with them at the next meeting of the Board. A Petition was received from the owners of lots S. 91 10 and 11 of W. A. Bugby's First Addition, requesting that the alley directly south of said lots be vacated. This matter was referred to the Engineering Department for investigation and recommendation. Redistribution of two parcels were approved by the Board as follows; and referred to the Controller: August 30, 1935 18th STREET Grade, Curb & Talk Roll No. 1616 Reso No. 1265 Dup. No. 18934, Clarence W. Hyde Beg. at N E cor of Jefferson Blvd & 18th St, thence north 975 ft, thence east 356 ft, thence south 1060 ft to Jefferson Blvd, thence westerly 3662 ft to beginning.
