Meyer & Son, Inc. <br />3.35 <br />City Water Works <br />.2.88 <br />Hans Wrecking Co. <br />11.00 <br />The matter of condition of the City Cemetery was discussed, in view of the fact <br />that several complaints had been received during the week in reference to weeds and <br />tall grass growing in the driveways, and Mr. Longenecker informed the Board that he <br />had been expecting help from the F.E.R.A., but what had been furnished him had been <br />very inadequate and until he could get more help it would be difficult to keep the <br />Cemetery in the condition which would present its best appearance. The Board instructed <br />him to do the best he could under the circumstances. <br />Mr. Charles Lewinski, on behalf of Mr. Sroda, again appeared before the Board and <br />informed the Board that due to excavation at Western Avenue and Walnut Street the <br />property of Mr. Sroda has already been damaged and that he took this occasion 'to notify <br />the Board that suit against the City of South Bend would be filed to protect <br />Mr. Sroda's interests. <br />The matter brought up by Mr. Eli Seebirt at the meeting of the Board on July Sth, <br />which -was left for investigation of the City Attorney, was discussed and it was <br />decided, upon regular motion, that the proposition submitted by Cora, Orpha and Lona <br />Swindler be rejected and that the Secretary notify Mr. Seebirt to this effect. <br />Mr. Qualls reported that the new roof had been put on the Alarm Station andthata <br />very satisfactory job had been done. <br />The matter of painting street lights, which has been practiced by some residents, <br />was -discussed and Mr. Qualls was instructed to report to the Board as to whether or not <br />he could contrive some shield or reflector for lights at certain places in the City <br />where direct rays fall upon residences. <br />Mr. Anderson was delegated to confer with the Park Board about trimming trees on <br />the City streets where they seriously obstruct the lighting of streets and to report at <br />the next meeting of the Board. <br />Yx. Hunter, City Attorney, reported in reference to the F. H. Tigue matter wherein <br />Mr. Tigue, due to carelessness on the part of the Street Department on 25th Street, <br />caused damage to his automobile because of a projected manhole, recommended that settle- <br />ment be made with Mr. Tigue on the best possible terms. The matter was referred to <br />Mr. Anderson of the Engineering Department for disposition. <br />Continuation of Contractor's Bond for Sherman Metzger with the Fidelity & Deposit <br />Company of Maryland was approved for the year ending September 30, 1935. <br />The. meeting adjourned at 12:30 P.
