Meeting May 23,1935. <br />A__Special-Meeting © "-the oard-of-Public- Works -was- held at--10 -A.M, on Thursday May - <br />23,1935.All Members were present. <br />This being the time to which postponement was made for the hearing of Resolution # 2481 <br />being condemnation Resolution for the opening of Michigan St between North Shore Drive <br />and the North City Limits,Mr Hunter moved and Mr Woodward seconded that the assessment <br />roll be revised to include a $15,00 additional fee to the abstract and title Co for <br />additional fees for additional services carried. <br />Mr Emil Schinke appeared before the board and presented the following letter <br />addressed to the Board as of May 16,1935. <br />Gentleman; <br />As the writer understand's The final plan's of the newcproposed #31 Dixie <br />Highway North,Will be West of Leeper Ave,And grade or cut will be Abt' 14 ft eroosing <br />Peasway St.therefore eliminating Peasway St.As a through street,west , <br />As Peasway St will be discontinued asxa through street,west from Leeper Ave, <br />we therefor ask when consideration expenditures(or damages)that you will include in said <br />expense roll,the total amount of said pavement improved($767.53)which was assesed Lot#12 i <br />Leeper addition.,( lenght 134ft). <br />Thanking you 14 advance for giving favorable attention <br />W eem said above re-imbursement should be made us as owners of lot #12 Leeper <br />addition <br />Emil & Harriet J.Schinke. <br />1301 Leeper Ave <br />P.S.Similar notice as above was given BoarAof Public Works.Oct 11,1934.Further more,The <br />writer protested against said Peasway Pavement. <br />.-a56hXnka also filed with the Board the following written remonstrance. i <br />To the Board of Public Works <br />of the City of South Bend Ind. <br />As the owners of Lots 12 And 11 in Samuel Leeper's First Addition to the City of South <br />Bend,Indiana,being approximately one hundred thirty-four(134)feet on Peasway street, <br />including the alley,which it isproposed by the City to take for the openingof Nortki <br />• Michigan St from North Shore Drive to the City limits,under condemation Resolution No <br />2481,we claim to be damaged to the sum of Seventeen Hundred Sixty-seven and 53/100 Dolla s <br />�(1767.53)by said proposed work. <br />We havebeen awarded by the department of Public Works of the city of South Bend no <br />damages and no benefits. <br />WHEREFORE,we remonstrate against the proposed work and claim as damages said sum of <br />Seventeen Hundred Sixty-seven and 53/10ODollars(1767.53). <br />Emil Schinke <br />H.J.Schinke. <br />Hearing on vacation resolution #2482 was continued for 60 days on the vacation of Leeper <br />Ave from North Line of Angela Ave to North City Limits. <br />I <br />i <br />0 <br />
