<br />Regular meetin of the Board of Putile Works was held at 11:45.A.M.on
<br />Monday April 15$1.935.All members were-epresent.
<br />Minutes of meeting of April 8,were read and approved.
<br />Claims in the amount of 3376;58.were approved.
<br />Electric Dept,Mr Qualls present.
<br />Mr Qualls and Mr Anderson reported the result of their investigation of the
<br />Gary lighting system.Mr Qualls recommended and Mr Anderson a eed that the co
<br />eontractas proposed by the Indiana and Michigen.Eleetric Co,Ts as low as the
<br />city can expect to secure and that it is much more favorable than the contract
<br />under which Gary operates,andrecommended its adoption.asoutlined.It- as -moved
<br />by Mr Hunter and seconed by Mr Woodward that the contract be signed subject r:
<br />to the approval of the common council to date January lst 1935. n
<br />The following is the contract as outlined.
<br />THIS AGREEMENT,made'and entered into this day of 1935,between t
<br />the city of South Bend,a municipal corporation of the State of Indiana,by and
<br />through its Board of Public Works,party of the first part,hereinafter referred
<br />to as the City,and Indiana and Michigan Electric Company,party of the second
<br />part ,hereinafter referred to as the Contractor,pursuant to a resolution of the
<br />Board of -Public Wotks passed at a meeting held on day of 19359
<br />WITNESSETH
<br />That the parties hereto each in consideration of the agreementson the part
<br />of the other herein contained have mutually agreed and hereby mutually agree as
<br />follows::,--
<br />1.The Contractor shall provide and maintain
<br />(a) A street lighting system 3n the city of SouthBe-iid,jndian&
<br />consisting of not less than one Thousand and Forty-one (1041)street lamps
<br />supplied from the OVERHEAD DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM of the Contractor:Such over lamps
<br />shall be as folloes;
<br />1- 10000 Lumen incandescent,pendent fixture,dust proof bot lrefractor,
<br />mast armveonstruction.
<br />60 - 6000 Lumen incandescent lamps,pendent fixture,dust proof bowl
<br />refractor,mast arm construction.
<br />654 - 4000 Lumen incandescent lamps pendent fixture,dust proof bowel
<br />refractor,mast arm construction.
<br />75 - 2500lumen incandescent lamps,pendent fixture,dust proof bowl
<br />refractor, bracket or mast arm construction.
<br />251 1 1000 Lumen incandescent lamps,radial refleetor,bracket construction
<br />(b) A street lighting system in the city, of South Bend,Indiana.,
<br />consisting of not less than One Thousand Five Hundred Fifty -Six (1556)street
<br />lamps supplied from underground distribution systems of the Contractor.Such
<br />underground lamps shall be as follows:-
<br />I.Pendent Lighting Units.

<br />3 -1000 Lumen Danger Indicator units.
<br />I - 50 Watt Special Traffic Indicators.
<br />1.05 - 4-60 'Watt Post. Type Traffic Directors.
<br />27 `- 1.2-60 Watt B4.6,pehbion Type Traffic Directors.
<br />II.Special Park or Bridge Lighting Units.
