100 <br />ivrieeting February 18, 1935 <br />meeting n g of the Board o f 0 TV' <br />'Re gu le r Public Works was called at 10:3 A <br />February 18, 1935 by Chairmen Anderson#' All -members were present. <br />Yinutes of the meting of February-11, 1935 were rend and approved. <br />Claims in the mount of $652.96 were approved. <br />John Vance apneared before the Board regarding improvenient of conditions in C61vert <br />St. Vest w-hich was referred to the Street Department at last week's meeting and <br />11r. VVeer reported, that the only thing the., t can be done was to cinder the street the <br />best possible until e. sewer could be extended along the street'. <br />Ernest J.'.Eock through his attorney Chas. Lewinski appeared before the Board regard- <br />iilg damage to his car estimated at $32.10 on account of running over curb at <br />Indiana Ave. and Swigart St. where the street narrows. It was moved., second6d end. <br />carried that the City Engineer investigate the conditions at this point and to <br />report at next meeting., <br />It was moved, seconded and carried that trie Controller and Secretary of the Board <br />investigate the budget with a view of. determining to what appropriation the 0 ur- <br />chase of a certa-in piece of land front, the. The matter was referred to the Electrical Dept. <br />The Indiana Bell Telephone Conj.-­any requested. permission in their letter of Feb. <br />7, 1935 to place underground conduit in accordan-ce rith their prints #1 and <br />D-6-13046-14 in ' "Nestern Ave., 11,Vp1nut St. and the alley north of Western Ave. east <br />of Walnut St. Upon Yr.- Qualls' investigation and recommendation, the Board <br />granted the perr.-Lit. • <br />The case of Otto Lawitske who filed a. claim with the Board of Public Works under <br />date of June 25th, 1934 for damages to his r,.,-r which at thet time was referred -to <br />the then City Attorney Iden S. Romig was brought up. Damage reported at that time <br />w9s $78,20. The matter was referred to the City Attorney for compromise disposition <br />The question of sewer pipe contract with Rocco Simeri was postponed until the <br />board could have a conference with 'I"r. Cox of the FERA. <br />A communication from the Kosciuszko Civic Club requesting repairs to sideivelks in <br />the west part of the city. 'L'7r. Weer reported that it had been the custom to have <br />the residOnts pay for material and that the work would be done with FERA labor, <br />and that he had orders for more of this work than his appropriation would allow. <br />The Board instructed hill to do this work as far as possible. <br />The Board approved tle placing of the following fire insurance on the City Garage <br />and Repair Shop: <br />Continental Ins. Co. of N.Y. through A.T. Eepler, Jr. agent for St. Joe Loan & <br />Trust Co. $8,000.00-. <br />Milwaukee 171echanics Ins. Co. through 0. C.
