Michigan St. in South Bend was recently received at <br /> DCI. This request comes from RealAmerica,developers of the successful LaSalle Apartments project. <br /> On January 21,2015, Real America Development was granted a tax abatement. (Technically a transfer of <br /> an original abatement granted for the property to a previous developer.) The RealAmerica committed <br /> over$9,000,000.00 in private investment to remodel the apartment building, creating several new jobs. <br /> Each year the County Assessor is required to send St.Joseph County property owners a notice of re- <br /> assessment,prompting property owners with tax abatements to file the appropriate paperwork to receive <br /> their annual abatement deduction. RealAmerica/LaSalle Apartments, LLC did not receive said notice from <br /> the Assessor. DCI learned of this situation in mid-February. <br /> DCI confirms that the company has been in compliance with its investment and job commitments and <br /> support this waiver.
